Every Movie Leaving Netflix in May 2024

May 3, 2024

Netflix, with its vast movie collection, has made it easier for subscribers to find entertainment from the comfort of their couches. Users have flocked to the streaming service since its inception, with it consistently adding new films. While Netflix produces original films, it also offers a wide range of famous titles from other streaming services, ensuring audiences always have something to watch.

Despite this convenience, Netflix has to make tough choices when it comes to maintaining quality and other licensing issues. As a result, many movies are being removed from the platform every month. In April 2024, for example, Netflix bid farewell to several intriguing films such as Dawn of the Dead, The Batman, and Train to Busan. With that in mind, here’s the list of every movie leaving Netflix in May 2024.

Desperado (1995)
Leaving Netflix on May 1

Desperado, written and directed by Robert Rodriguez, is the follow-up to El Mariachi in his Mexico Trilogy. This neo-Western action picture stars Antonio Banderas as El Mariachi, a former musician with a desire for revenge. When Bucho, a drug kingpin, murders El Mariachi’s girlfriend and puts a bullet through his hand, he arrives in the town to put him out of business. With the help of a few allies, including his best friend Steve and a charming bookshop owner named Carolina, he starts looking for Bucho. Unfortunately, this Western film has left Netflix as of May 1.

King Kong (2005)

King Kong is a timeless franchise, and the 2005 adaptation is yet another beloved movie featuring the character. The film, directed by Peter Jackson and starring Naomi Watts, is set on Skull Island, where Carl Denham (Jack Black) has opted to shoot his upcoming film. When the film’s leading woman, Ann Darrow, is taken away by a giant gorilla that lives on this hidden island, Carl and Ann’s new love, Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody), must do whatever it takes to find her while avoiding all the other horrors that lurk in the island. King Kong is no longer available on Netflix as of May 1.

Magic Mike’s Last Dance (2023)
Leaving Netflix on May 2

Magic Mike’s Last Dance is the third installment in the franchise, following Magic Mike (2012) and Magic Mike XXL (2015). While not the best film in the series, it takes an entirely new approach and offers something distinct to the audience. Starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek, the film reintroduces Mike to the public eye following his lengthy hiatus.

Insidious (2010)

Following the release of the first film in 2010, Insidious has established itself as one of the best horror franchises.
