Fast X BTS Video Teases Toretto Siblings Teaming Up For Epic Fight Scene
May 1, 2023
A new Fast X behind-the-scenes featurette teases Jordana Brewster’s big upcoming fight scene as Mia Toretto, which sees her team up with John Cena’s Jakob. Serving as the tenth installment in the long-running Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X pits Vin Diesel’s Dom against Jason Momoa’s dangerous new villain, Dante. Mia was first introduced in the original Fast & Furious movie back in 2001 and his since become a crucial part of the franchise, playing an important role in many of the movie’s action sequences.
Ahead of Fast X’s release date next month, the official Fast Saga Twitter account shared a new teaser for the film, breaking down a major Mia fight scene as her house is invaded by armed intruders. Check out the new featurette below:
The clip features Mia babysitting her nephew when masked assailants break in, although it’s unclear who they are or what they want. While Mia channels her “mama bear energy” to hold her own against the intruders, Cena’s character thankfully shows up and the two are able to work together to dispatch the enemies.
How Fast X’s Action Will Be More Grounded
Although the Fast & Furious franchise was born from humble beginnings, with the first few films focused mostly on street racing, the entries have been getting increasingly ridiculous. This ridiculousness came to a head in F9 when Tej (Ludacris) and Roman (Tyrese Gibson) blast off into space in a Fiero. According to director Louis Leterrier, however, Fast X’s action will be more grounded.
The director has shared that, in some ways, Fast X will go back to the franchise’s roots. The movie is confirmed to feature at least one street-racing sequence, which has been an important part of the franchise since the beginning. What’s more, Leterrier has also made clear that he’s a strong proponent of using practical effects over CGI. Fast X’s rolling bomb sequence, for example, was at least partially accomplished using a real rolling metal ball on the streets of Rome.
While Leterrier has been adamant that the sequel’s action will go back to the franchise’s roots, the Fast X trailers have featured some pretty outlandish sequences, including Dom using his car to smash two helicopters together and, in the most recent trailer, driving down the side of a dam as it explodes. It remains to be seen how Fast X’s car action will actually compare to past installments, but, at the very least, two Toretto siblings are guaranteed to team up for a standout hand-to-hand fight sequence.
