First Look at ‘Superman’ Toy Revealed in Leaked Image Featuring Krypto

Feb 18, 2025

James Gunn’s Superman did not live up to the expectations of a new preview fans had during Super Bowl Sunday, but marketing for the upcoming DCU film is still in full effect. In fact, an action-packed TV spot recently made the rounds, featuring David Corenswet’s Superman flying through snowy terrain in a Top Gun: Maverick-like sequence. Unfortunately, it was unsurprisingly met with divisive reactions from the fanbase, with some speculating that a heavy dose of CGI was used to modify the actor’s face during flight. Corenswet’s face turned out to be CGI-free, but the civil unrest remained. Now, a new look at Superman should make those worries go away for most fans of the iconic character.
An image of Superman toy packaging surfaced online this week, featuring a Krypto the Superdog action figure at the center. In the top left corner, a brand-new look at Corenswent taking flight as the Man of Steel can be seen, and it may be the clearest image of the character yet. Of course, it is more difficult to judge a still image versus footage, but it’s hard to argue against the iconic pose and comic-accurate design.
Although the first Superman trailer broke several records and quickly became one of the most anticipated movies of the year for general audiences, it did not take long for the divisive flight clip to make the rounds online and anger some fans. Gunn assured people that the real Corenswet was in fact featured in the controversial clip, and even the background is “100% real as is David.”

“There is absolutely zero CG in his face. People’s faces can look different when you put a wide angle lens up close. The background plate in Svalbard is 100% real as is David.”

‘Superman’ Debuts a Wacky Preview During Super Bowl Sunday

Despite promising a new preview during the Puppy Bowl (which happens on the same day as the Super Bowl), Superman failed to deliver for diehard fans glued to the television screen. However, DC did unleash a new look at Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, who sports a bowl cut perfect for the occasion. It’s a wacky, unserious promo for the film, but it does a good job of portraying how self-centered Gardner can be and does not shy away from the tacky nature of the comic counterpart. Of course, as most things go nowadays, fans were not entirely pleased with the preview. Some even wonder who it’s even for, although those familiar with The Rookie may beg to differ.
