Suspect Knox became a global sensation, with some praising the young student and others vilifying her. ‘Tale’ shows the legal process behind the controversial conviction and a 16-year journey to set her free.

The dramatic series sees Knox take on an essential role as executive producer. It also features another executive producer who is all too aware of how the media and society treat young women. Monica Lewinsky may have first attracted public attention through a scandal, but she has made a meaningful impact with various projects. Lewinsky serves as executive producer for a deal involving her production company, Alt Ending.

Grace Van Patten stars as Amanda Knox. Patten came to the attention of critics and audiences with a major role in “Nine Perfect Strangers,” but before that, turns in celebrated indies such as “Tramps.” Sharon Horgan portrays Knox’s mother, Edda Mellas. The actress is additionally set to lead projects for Amazon and HBO: John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico, and Roberta Mattei round out the cast.

20th Television, in association with The Littlefield Company, presents “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox.” The Hulu limited series debuts on August 20 with two episodes. Additional episodes stream weekly on Wednesdays. Watch the first trailer below.
