Henry Cavill Plays a Spy in the Upcoming Film ARGYLLE, but He Still Hopes to Play 007 — GeekTyrant

Feb 2, 2024

Actor Henry Cavill is one of the stars in the wildly fun-looking ensemble spy thriller Argylle, from director Matthew Vaughn. Cavill plays a spy named Argylle in the film, similar to the character of James Bond, who the actor was famously in the running to play back when it was down to him and Daniel Craig. We all know how that played out, but as Craig is now finished with the role, Cavill is still a viable and widely talked-about choice. When asked if he thought this current role would help or hurt his bid to play 007, Cavill told Total Film:“It’s a fun character. Whether I’m ruled out of Bond because of this or not is up to Barbara Broccoli and Mr. Wilson.”Cavill knows it’s completely up the James Bond producers, and it’s smart of him to just carry on with his career, because who knows what they’ll do next. They’ve passed him up once before, but I think it would be a mistake for them to do it again. Henry Cavill is done playing Superman, he’s no longer playing Geralt, and he is the obvious perfect choice for Bond, so they should just make it happen. In the meantime, we can watch Cavill in Argylle alongside Bruce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston, Sofia Boutella, Ariana DeBose, Catherine O’Hara, and Samuel L. Jackson. Argylle will be released in theaters on February 2, 2024.
