Henry Cavill Plays Various Logan Variants in New Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art
Aug 21, 2024
Marvel fans lost their collective minds when Henry Cavill graced the big screen as a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine. Now, new concept art has revealed that his iteration of Logan could have looked quite different. As Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) traverses multiple timelines in an attempt to find a new anchor being, he comes across multiple Wolverine variants. With Deadpool taking a few jabs at DC for their mishandling of Superman, Cavill appears as a butch, motorcycle revving variant, who uses the actor’s signature bicep reload to reveal his claws before punching Deadpool back into the madness of the multiverse.
Ahead of the release of a concept art book for Deadpool & Wolverine, artist Wesley Burt revealed some of the alternate designs for Henry Cavill’s Wolverine, a.k.a. the Cavillerine on X. The versions aren’t drastically different in tone, but they do showcase several alternative looks for the character. In the film, Cavill appears wearing a sleeveless white vest, showcasing the actor’s famous superhero physique. The concept art reveals that Cavill nearly wore an outfit reminiscent of Hugh Jackman’s in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with the red flannel shirt depicted in one drawing possibly also a callback to Cavill’s time playing farm boy Clark Kent in Man of Steel.

Wesley Burt suggested that the concept art book will be released this October. However, nothing has been confirmed.
Henry Cavill Was The Quickest Confirmed Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine
Scheduling and organizing a shoot for a Hollywood movie is often difficult. The schedules of all the actors have to match up, and numerous big-budget projects have been shelved, delayed, and completely rewritten because of diary conflicts. Looking at the sheer number of cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, it’s amazing the movie ever got made. While most casting is handled by casting directors, agents, and lawyers, Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy reached out to all the surprise stars of Deadpool & Wolverine personally. According to Levy, Henry Cavill was the quickest to respond to their request, giving an almost immediate yes. Speaking to Variety, Levy said:
“I knew it was undeniable as soon as Ryan came up with [the term Cavillerine]. He said ‘yes’ right away because he knew it would be subversive and playful. It was also with a lot of affection for him and his body of work, and playing with his legacy as a DC hero now that he’s appearing as a variant of a Marvel hero.”
Related Zack Snyder Shares Brief Response to Henry Cavill’s Unexpected New Superhero Role Zack Snyder has championed Henry Cavill for a long while, but what about his new brief superhero role?
Henry Cavill’s surprise appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine was born out of two elements. Firstly, the actor’s tumultuous time under DC and Warner Bros., which saw the actor recast from the role of Superman after the DC Extended Universe was rebooted. And secondly, years of fan casting for Cavill to play Wolverine on the big screen. After Hugh Jackman announced his retirement from the role following James Mangold’s Logan, fans immediately wondered about the perfect replacement. Cavill was at the top of many people’s lists. Even now, as Hugh Jackman’s future as Wolverine remains uncertain, fans are still desperate to see Cavill play Wolverine again.
