Hugh Jackman in the Yellow Wolverine Suit Made Grown Men Cry, Says Deadpool & Wolverine Producer

Jul 23, 2024

Hugh Jackman finally wearing Wolverine’s iconic yellow and blue suit in Deadpool & Wolverine is a powerful moment for Marvel fans, so powerful in fact, it caused grown men to cry on the film’s set. The eagerly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine (Marvel Studios’ only cinematic offering in 2024) has been teased to contain endless incredible surprises. Numerous Marvel characters, old and new, are expected and rumored to appear in the movie, as well as various cameos from actors and celebrities. Additionally, the film will finally bring Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, giving Deadpool even more comic book characters to annoy and kill. But, it seems the project’s most powerful reveal was actually one of its first.

Speaking to HeyUGuys, Deadpool & Wolverine executive producer Wendy Jacobson revealed that witnessing Hugh Jackman in the yellow supersuit from the comics had a profound emotional effect on the film’s crew. Jacobson remembered Reynolds and Jackman suiting up for a camera test, and the sight of both actors in their costumes drew some members of the crew crazy. Jacobson explained:

“It was one of the craziest things. It was the camera test before we started shooting, and to see both of those guys in costume together was just mind-blowing. But Hugh walking out in the yellow and blue, there were grown men, like, sobbing on the set. So we knew it was a very special thing.”

Everyone is Terrified of Giving Away Deadpool & Wolverine Spoilers

Aside from the trailers, only 35 minutes of Deadpool & Wolverine has been screened to journalists. At various fan events across the world, the limited footage was presented by Reynolds, Jackman, and the film’s director, Shawn Levy, to give audiences an insight into what to expect when Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters. However, the trio were incredibly careful when selecting the 35 minutes of footage, as Deadpool & Wolverine is filled with surprises.

As a result, discussing the movie during interviews has been no easy feat, and Wendy Jacobson revealed her constant fear of giving away spoilers during the interview. The executive producer revealed it nearly happened at the London screening event, but she caught herself out before Marvel’s super-secret spoiler police had to get involved. Jacobson said:

“I think we all live in constant fear of, just, totally blowing it. I came close last night on the [red] carpet too, actually. So, I will be very relieved when my heart isn’t pounding out of my chest that I’m going to get taken out by the Marvel Security SEAL Team.”

However, one of Deadpool & Wolverine’s biggest cameos was teased in its latest trailer. As the titular heroes traverse timelines (picking up Dogpool on the way), the body of Lady Deadpool is briefly shown on screen. Fans are desperately scrambling to work out who it may be. Some believe it may be Taylor Swift’s long-denied cameo in the film, whereas others believe it’s Ryan Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively. Of course, some believe, in true Deadpool fashion, it may be the body of Blake Lively with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool head superimposed on top.

Deadpool & Wolverine
releases in theaters on July 25, 2024.
