Nov 7, 2023
Summary
Hugh Jackman is excited about wearing Wolverine’s yellow and blue X-Men costume in the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie, according to director Shawn Levy. When Kevin Feige was told about Jackman’s interest in joining the film, he immediately suggested using the iconic blue and yellow costume. Jackman’s response to the idea was incredibly positive.
Hugh Jackman’s first reaction to his Deadpool 3 Wolverine costume has been revealed by the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie’s director. After having debuted as Logan in 2000’s X-Men, Jackman finally wears Wolverine’s yellow and blue X-Men costume in the film. The first major news from Deadpool 3 as it started filming was the reveal of the yellow and blue suit, which sent fans into a frenzy. It seems like Jackman was equally excited about donning the Wolverine suit.
Speaking with Jake’s Takes, Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy revealed Jackman was ecstatic about wearing Wolverine’s iconic suit.
According to Levy, as soon as he told Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige that Jackman was willing to come back as Wolverine for Deadpool 3, Feige said, “‘Okay, but let’s go with the blue and yellow.'” Levy then revealed what Jackman himself thought of the idea, with the Wolverine actor saying, “‘Fuck yeah!’” Jackman could potentially continue in the MCU for a little longer after Deadpool 3, wearing his new costume in future Marvel movies. Check out the full quote below:
“When we first told Kevin Feige that Hugh Jackman wanted to join the movie – my recollection is – damn near the first thing he said was, ‘Okay, but let’s go with the blue and yellow’… And then, when I approached Hugh with that idea, he was like, ‘Fuck yeah!’”
Why Deadpool 3 Is The Perfect Movie For Hugh Jackman To Finally Wear Wolverine’s Iconic Costume
Deadpool 3’s stacked cast, which includes heroes like Jackman’s Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and more, could make it one of the best MCU movies. There are a lot of exciting roads for the movie to take as it brings Reynolds’ Deadpool into the MCU. Given his prominent role in the film, Jackman’s Wolverine could also end the movie in the MCU alongside Deadpool, staying around until Avengers: Secret Wars, which would allow the MCU to possibly have a classic-looking Wolverine alongside the Avengers and more heroes.
Levy has suggested Deadpool versus Wolverine, Deadpool and Wolverine, and Deadpool 3 With Wolvie as titles for the movie, showing Jackman’s importance to it.
That opportunity would be too good to pass on, especially given the long road it took for Deadpool 3 to finally give Jackman the comic-accurate Wolverine suit. Deadpool 3 is bound to be a major celebration of the Fox Marvel universe, with set photos and videos showing Deadpool and Wolverine fighting near the ruins of a 20th Century Fox Logo. That and the rumored Deadpool 3 cameos make the film the perfect place to crown Jackman’s history as Wolverine by having him don the yellow and blue costume from the comics.
The MCU is also known to give its characters their iconic comic book costumes, which has even happened more frequently in recent years. With Deadpool 3 bringing Reynolds’ franchise to the MCU, the film became the perfect spot to finally have Jackman wear Wolverine’s costume from the comics. As Levy described how Feige immediately thought of using the suit as soon as he heard Jackman was back, it stands to reason that the missing Wolverine mask that fans have been worried about will be present when Deadpool 3 arrives in theaters.
