Idris Elba Stars In Apple TV+’s Thriller Series On June 28

Not interested in Idris Elba reprising his iconic detective role “Luther: The Fallen Sun” on Netflix? Well, Elba has another thriller hitting another streamer soon: “Hijack,” which premieres on Apple TV+ next month.

The seven-part thriller stars Elba as Sam Nelson, a business negotiator who must put his professional strategies to the test after his plane to London gets hijacked. As authorities on the ground scramble for answers, Nelson works with Archie Panjabi‘s counter-terrorism officer Zahra Gahfoor over the find to try and save the passengers before it’s too late.
Along with Elba and Panjabi, “Hijack” also stars Max Beesley, Neil Maskell, Christine Adams, and Eve Myles. Other cast includes Jasper Britton, Harry Michael, and Aimee Kelly.  Mohamed Elsandel and Ben Miles round out the main cast.
George Kay and Jim Field Smith, the creators of Netflix’s “Criminal” series, co-create, co-write, and co-direct “Hijack.”  60Forty Films produces the series, with Jamie Laurenseon and Hakan Kousetta leading the way there. Kay and Fieldsmith also co-executive produce through their banner Idiotlamp Productions. “Hijack” marks the first series that’s part of Elba’s first-look deal with Apple TV+ through his Green Door Pictures. Other executive producers on the series include Kris Thykier.
“Hijack” premieres on Apple TV+ on June 28 with its first two episodes, with new episodes premiering every Wednesday through August 2. Watch a trailer for the series below.
