I’m A Celebrity 2024 Returns With a Bang!

Nov 17, 2024

I’m A Celebrity 2024 is here and back on our TV screens and in that very moment, the Great British public knows that Christmas is just around the corner!

This year sees a brand new cast of celebrities who will be dropped into the jungle to take part in TV’s toughest entertainment challenge. ITV wrote that line, not me, I’m sure the NAVY Seals SAS programme has something to say about that particular line, but we move.
Last year, the show was the biggest Entertainment show on any channel having launched with just under 11 million viewers and averaging over 8 million viewers across the series run. It also attracted the biggest 16-34 audience of any channel in 2023.
Let’s take a look at our 2024 campmates, shall we?
ITV
The I’m A Celebrity 2024 line-up for this season is as follows:
Dancer – Oti MabuseCorrie Star – Alan HalsallLoose Women & Journalist – Jane MooreRadio 1 DJ – Dean McCulloughN-Dubz Singer – Tulisa ContostavlosTV Presenter & DJ – Melvin OdoomTV Personality – Coleen RooneyFormer Boxing Champion – Barry McGuiganPodcaster & Content Creator – GK BarryMcFly Star – Danny Jones
Normally each year has that one steller name in its line-up with previous campmates such as Caitlin Jenner, Nigel Farage and more all commanding the big money to appear on the show. This year sees Coleen Rooney become the highest-paid star of the show which somewhat puzzles me.
Don’t get me wrong, we all know who she is but when billed as the biggest star on the show it doesn’t say much for the rest of the line-up. Merely added to spill the goss about the recent Wagatha Christie scandal involving Rebecca Vardy no doubt.
This year does feel like one of the weakest line-ups in I’m A Celebrity history as far as celebrity status goes BUT (and it’s a big butt) this is where personalities shine, stars are made and in some cases, careers are revived!
The trials start even earlier this year as they don’t even have a second to rest in their lovely meet-up accommodation and whilst getting to know one another they’re now thrown into the deep end where they have to drink some pungent testicle-infused cocktails with a helicopter jump lined up straight after.

This vomit-comet-inducing trial is a double whammy for our first celebrities introduced which include Danny, Tulisa, Oti, Dean and Jane but there are plenty of comedic moments along the way with Tulisa’s run being a specific highlight of the first 15 minutes of this brand-new season.
Straight away it’s clear to see that Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough has that cheeky chappy personality with a charm and within the first 15 minutes I can tell he’s certainly a celeb to keep an eye on very much like how last year’s winner Sam Thompson just had that friendly endearing quality, I can see the same in Dean but all that could change the second they start their jungle adventure.
Alan, Melvin, Barry, GK and Coleen all meet on a beach and have to watch their campmates flying overhead before they make their plunge, pick one celeb and off on a mission they go.
I feel as though mixing the groups instantly means there is a much better integration between the groups and a great way for everyone to bond before they even get into camp. I feel the format, whilst keeping in line with things we’ve seen before on the show has managed to mix it up just enough to make it more interesting than it has been in the past.

With GK already saying “I hate this show” before even getting into the camp it’ll be fun to see how she survives in the wilderness.
Whilst this year’s line-up is jam-packed full of the bigger names, it certainly looks like the season that features a cast of bigger hearts and I’m genuinely excited to see how it pans out as the weeks go by.
It’s crazy how 22 years after the first season of I’m A Celebrity we still tune in and watch, it’s still as fun as ever and I think we could be in for one hell of a show in 2024 and if that first trial is anything to go by they’re already throwing the celebs straight into the deep end and long may it continue!
Ant and Dec are tried and tested and will never fail to make us laugh in the interludes and the cast members this year have oodles of personality that could make this particular season of I’m A Celebrity 2024, one of the very best.
