Is Frank Grillo Joining the DCU?

Jun 12, 2023

Frank Grillo could cross to the other side of the road in the near future and move from Marvel Studios to DC Studios. The action actor had a small role in the MCU, giving life to Brock Rumlow, aka Crossbones, but his future within the franchise is uncertain, so he could change sides.

Grillo is an American actor and model of Italian descent with excellent fighting skills and experience in martial arts and boxing. He made a big name for himself in Hollywood thanks to his work in the MCU and The Purge saga, in the Kingdom series, and his role in Prison Break, as well as working for acclaimed directors such as Kathryn Bigelow in Zero Dark Thirty.

For several years, the actor was the favorite of many comic book fans to play Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher. A role that would finally be for Jon Bernthal, while Grillo was already part of Marvel. But now, the actor could try his luck at DC.

For now, he has not received a response from Gunn, who often gives small details to fans about what he is planning and even leaves many clues so that he could join this game started by Grillo.

Which Characters Could Frank Grillo Play in the DCU?

Marvel Studios

The most obvious choice would surely be Deathstroke. Previously played by Joe Manganiello, Slade Wilson is a military man who, after undergoing secret government experiments, becomes the lethal Deathstroke. In recent years he has been a recurring character in both the comics and the Batman Arkham series video games.

Another great possibility would be Wildcat, especially considering that Gunn likes to bring not-so-popular characters to light. There have been different versions of this character throughout DC publications, the best known being Ted Grant, a talented and fierce boxer. Something that would suit Frank very well.

Ra’s al Ghul would be another interesting role for the actor within the DCU. Leader of the League of Assassins, Ra’s al Ghul’s name in Arabic means the Demon’s Head. In cinema, he was already played by another action icon, Liam Neeson.
