John Cena & Jason Momoa Set To Star In Action-Comedy Killer Vacation

Dec 19, 2022

Two of DC’s biggest stars, Jason Momoa and John Cena, are planning to team up for the upcoming action comedy movie Killer Vacation for Warner Bros.

John Cena and Jason Momoa will be teaming up for the upcoming film Killer Vacation. The two actors have certainly made themselves popular figures in Hollywood over the last several years. Cena first came into prominence as a professional wrestler, while Momoa began his career as an actor in 1999 in Baywatch: Hawaii. The two also have major roles in the DC Universe. Though Aquaman and Peacemaker have never encountered each other on-screen, Cena’s character has made it clear he’s no fan of Momoa’s, as made evident by the widely-discussed fish joke from Peacemaker season 1. The two actors also star in the upcoming Fast & Furious sequel, Fast X, which comes out next year.

Variety reports that, after hitting it off on that set, Momoa and Cena now plan to star in a film of their own for Warner Bros. While the studio is keeping most details about the plot secret, the movie is titled Killer Vacation and is described as an action comedy.

Everything We Know About Killer Vacation

Killer Vacation sounds like a perfect fit for the two fun-loving actors, who have often thrived in high-paced action romps with a focus on actor chemistry. After playing a villain in Fast X, Momoa is going to have a chance to return to form with Killer Vacation, which is sure to be a relief. As for Cena, after his turn as Peacemaker, a fun and mistake-riddled character who became a hit with audiences, Killer Vacation is likely going to involve staying close to form.

The upcoming movie is to be produced by John Rickard, known for Rampage and more importantly, Peacemaker, alongside new DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran, who has produced Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Suicide Squad. As two producers who have extensive experience with projects featuring fun, high-energy stories, Killer Vacation looks like a great fit for Rickard and Safran. It’s also worth noting that the producers have already worked with Cena and Momoa on some of those ventures, meaning the upcoming film will likely feel familiar to fans of both actors.

Meanwhile, Mark and Brian Gunn are slated to write the script for Killer Vacation. The two Gunns are related to James Gunn, whose role at DC Studios alongside Safran didn’t impact the project, as it was set before Gunn’s new job began. Both Mark and Brian Gunn have limited experience writing for film but did work together to pen the superhero horror-thriller Brightburn. As the two also wrote the action-adventure film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, that project may offer a better idea of what Killer Vacation will look like.
