Jon Watts’ New ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off Arrives December 3
Aug 10, 2024
Today, at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Marvel, Pixar, and the Disney Studios brands were showcased, but Lucasfilm fans were thrilled, too. On stage to update various Lucasfilm projects, President Kathleen Kennedy revealed more details about the space childhood adventure series “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” and unveiled the first teaser trailer to the crowd.
Created and written by Jon Watts (Sony’s Marvel-produced ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy) and Christopher Ford (“Chaos Walking,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming”), “Skeleton Crew” follows four kids who get lost in a faraway galaxy and must find their way home.

Jude Law stars as the mysterious Jod Na Nawood, and it has been previously said that the character is force-sensitive. In addition to Law, child actors Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Wim), Kyriana Kratter (KB), Robert Timothy Smith (Neel), and Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Fern) will also star in the new series. The supporting cast includes Kerry Condon, Tunde Abedimpe, Michael C. Bradford, Cass Buggé, and M.J. Kang.
From a filmmaking point of view, the series is stacked with talent. Directors on the series include The Daniels (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”), Jon Watts (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,”), David Lowery (“The Green Knight,”), Jake Schreier (“Thunderbolts*”), Bryce Dallas Howard (“The Mandalorian”), and Lee Isaac Chung (Twisters”) all contributing their talents to at least one episode.
Late last month, Law described the show to People Magazine and said audiences will see kids “maneuver through” places where they shouldn’t be, adding, “seeing children in that environment in a ‘Star Wars’ environment is thrilling and very, very unique.”
“It is a fun place to be, the universe of ‘Star Wars,’” he continued. “And there are great references to old films and recent episodes and series. There’s a lot of originality and I hope that will bring the feeling of fun to those who watch it.”
Here’s the official synopsis:
“Skeleton Crew” follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by Law. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.
“Skeleton Crew” will premiere on Disney+ on December 3. Watch the first trailer below.
