Keanu Reeves Becomes a Comic-Accurate Wolverine in Incredibly Realistic Fan Art
Jan 28, 2024
Summary
Keanu Reeves has always been a fan favorite to play Wolverine in the MCU, and AI-generated fan art shows he could give it a good try. Reeves has been considered for various roles in the MCU, but his schedule has prevented him from joining the franchise so far. While Reeves may not play Wolverine, there is still a possibility for him to reprise his role in a sequel to Constantine.
There are certain combinations of popular actor and Marvel Cinematic Universe role that fans would give anything to see become a reality. Among that list is the idea of John Wick star Keanu Reeves getting the opportunity to suit up as the MCU’s Wolverine, but a new eerily perfect piece of fan art could be as close as we ever get to seeing it happen.
It is hard to imagine anyone being able to bring something to the role of Wolverine that displaces Hugh Jackman as the ultimate version of the classic X-Men mainstay. However, people said the same thing about Jack Nicholson’s Joker, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, Michael Keaton’s Batman…the list goes on. So could someone like Keanu Reeves cut it with his Adamantium claws? If these AI-generate pieces of fan art are anything to go by, then he could certainly give it a good try.
Of course, we are currently in the middle of the Multiverse Saga at Marvel Studios, a unique time when any character can appear in multiple iterations, both played by the same actor or different ones. For this reason, ruling out any rumors or so-called scoops on who is preparing to enter the franchise as it ramps up towards Avengers: Secret Wars is very tricky.
Although Reeves has always been a potential fan favorite in waiting to take on the role of Wolverine, the actor himself has previously said he is aware that his time for such a thing has likely passed.

Will Keanu Reeves Join the MCU?
Lionsgate
Although he may never play Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Keanu Reeves has certainly been in line to join the franchise on a number of occasions. Whenever there is a hint of a new character being cast, you can usually expect Reeves’ name to be mentioned somewhere.
Over the last few years, this has included whispers about The Matrix star taking on roles such as Silver Surfer or Ghost Rider, something the actor has previously addressed, saying, “10-year-old me would want to.” However, the biggest stumbling block for Reeves taking on any role in the MCU has always been down to his schedule, which has just not allowed the time for him to step into the franchise – although it has not been for want of trying on Marvel boss Kevin Feige’s part.
It is now more than two years since Reeves shared that he had actually had a meeting with Feige about joining the MCU back in 2019 and that at the time there had been no movement on who he could play in the franchise but they “gotta find something.”
Of course, Reeves is still potentially about to step back into a previous comic book role if the sequel to Constantine makes it to production. As of October 2023, director Francis Lawrence revealed that there were plans in place to commence work on an R-rated sequel to the 2005 movie once the strikes came to an end. There has been no further updates, but fans are still hoping that this is one project that does manage to get off the ground. Remind yourself of Reeve’s first time out as the demonologist in Constantine’s trailer below.
