Kim Kardashian Visited The Menéndez Brothers Alongside Monsters Star
Sep 24, 2024
Monsters: The Lyle & Erik Menendez Story has taken over Netflix as the current most-watched series on the streamer. The series documents the true murder of Jose and Kitty Menéndez and the subsequent trial and conviction of their sons, Erik and Lyle. Recent headlines read Netflix and Ryan Murphy slammed by Erik Menéndez over “blatant” lies and other inaccuracies in the new series. However, after publicly bashing the series through his wife, Erik Menéndez was forced to come face to face with the man who portrayed him.
According to TMZ, reality star and prison reform activist, Kim Kardashian visited the prison housing the Menéndez brothers, but she was not alone. Kardashian, joined by Cooper Koch, the actor behind Monsters’ portrayal, spoke to several dozen inmates, including the infamous siblings. Other visitors included Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, and sister Khloé Kardashian. Despite any potential awkwardness between Koch and Menéndez, the primary focus of the visit was Greenspace, a strategy led by Lyle Menéndez that hopes to reinvigorate and clean up prison yards to aid in rehabilitation efforts.
The Kim Kardashian/Ryan Murphy Connection Keeps Growing
Kardashian’s latest connection to Ryan Murphy’s fictional world of monsters and other houses of horrors may come in the form of prison rehabilitation. However, this is far from the only tie that connects Kardashian and Murphy in recent memory. After appearing in American Horror Story: Delicate, Kardashian signed on for a new Hulu legal drama under the Murphy umbrella. Between her Hulu reality series, The Kardashians, AHS: Delicate, and the new legal drama, it’s even more impressive to see Kardashian remain dedicated to her prison reform efforts.
2024 continues to be a significant year for Kim Kardashian’s efforts toward prison reform. Her latest visit to the prison the Menéndez brothers call home is only the most recent example of her continued progress. Earlier this year, Kardashian attended an event at The White House, hosted by current presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris. The topic centered around “second chances,” something many have clamored for regarding Erik and Kyle Menéndez.
Per People, the brothers remain “cautiously optimistic” about the possibility of someday walking free, ending their lifelong prison sentences. With a renewed interest in their case following Monsters, more eyes are on their situation than ever before, signaling the potential for a breakthrough in release efforts. Considering that motions were filed as recently as last year, anything is possible.
