David Tennant is open to reprising his iconic Kilgrave role in the MCU, raising more speculation for fans.
Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter has caused plenty of online speculation about her possible MCU debut in recent months, and the actress has once again been responding to another round of questions instigated by an innocent Instagram post. During a recent interview with Collider, Ritter was asked about one particular post she shared back in January, which involved her wearing one of Jessica’s T-shirts and tagging it “IYKYK.”

The image was shared thousands of times, and sparked one of many fan debates over whether the actress was teasing her return to the role of Jones in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. However, Ritter has once again pushed back on those theories, adamantly standing by her story that the image was nothing but a bit of fun. When asked if she had any idea the kind of reaction the post would create, she said:
“No, I didn’t. I have the shirt. It’s a great t-shirt. It’s one of my favorites and I was wearing it. I was like, ‘Oh, cute! Is anyone gonna recognize my shirt?’ But yeah, I did notice that it made some waves. That was fun. The character means so much to me, as well. It’s funny that one little thoughtless Instagram story of my cute t-shirt that I love [got that reaction].”
Of course, it is hard to believe any star when they claim they are not about to appear in one Marvel project or another. Everyone remembers that Andrew Garfield was still denying that he appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home after the movie was released in cinemas. For that reason, fans still haven’t completely given up hope of seeing Ritter pulling on Jessica Jones’ costume again.
Krysten Ritter is Not the Only Jessica Jones Star Who Would Love an MCU Return
Marvel Studios
With Daredevil: Born Again having been retooled to link up with Netflix’s Marvel Television shows, the chance of Jessica Jones making a return in the series is certainly more likely now than when the show was originally announced. With Jon Bernthal reprising his role as Frank Castle aka The Punisher, and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page and Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson also confirmed to return, someone else who would certainly consider bringing back an iconic Jessica Jones villain is former Doctor Who star David Tennant.
Tennant played Kilgrave in the first season of Jessica Jones, and although the character was killed off, he did continue to appear in Jones’ delusional hallucinations throughout the second and third seasons. When previously asked if he would consider reprising his role again in the MCU, Tennant said:
“I’d love to do Kilgrave again, yeah Kilgrave would be great. Yeah, that would be good wouldn’t it? I mean…he did very much get his neck broken, he was very dead…but never say never in the Marvel Universe.”

Exactly who and who will not appear in the upcoming roster of MCU movies and TV shows is constantly in flux, and will remain so as long as the multiverse is in play. Anyone could appear as a variant of their old character, or they could simply return – as in the case of Kilgrave – as some kind of memory or vision. It is clear that many fans would love to see more characters from some of Marvel’s canceled projects returning to screens again, but whether they will oblige is something we can only wait and find out.
