LANDMAN Secures Season 2 Renewal at Paramount+ Following Strong First Season — GeekTyrant

Paramount+ has renewed Taylor Sheridan’s hit series Landman, led by Billy Bob Thornton, for a second season following its successful debut late last year.Set in the high-stakes world of West Texas oil fields, Landman premiered in November, quickly capturing audiences with its gritty storytelling and great performances. Paramount+ reported that the show broke records, delivering both the most-watched global premiere and season finale in the streamer’s history.Billy Bob Thornton’s performance didn’t go unnoticed either as he secured a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series.Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, credited Sheridan’s storytelling for the show’s success, saying:“Landman was one of the biggest shows of the year because of Taylor Sheridan’s unique ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, harnessing the Neo-western themes of rugged individualism, ambition and working-class struggles set against contemporary debates around energy, climate change and economic growth. “The series has helped drive Paramount+ to new heights as the #2 SVOD in the US for Original Hours Watched in Q4, alongside our other hit series Tulsa King, The Agency, Lioness and Dexter: Original Sin.”The Season 1 ensemble casr included Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore.Based on the Boomtown podcast from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the show has been described as “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.”Sheridan co-created the series with Christian Wallace, with both serving as executive producers.
