Leaked set photos from James Gunn’s Superman have dominated the internet over the last few weeks, yet two iconic DC heroes confirmed for the movie haven’t been spotted. Until now. The newest set photos have given fans their first look at the Green Lantern Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced). Director James Gunn is amassing numerous DC heroes, both popular and underappreciated, for his new Superman movie – which will kick-start the rebooted DC universe.

Shared via Cleveland.com, the set images show Superman (David Corenswet), Mr Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl standing among a busy crowd of onlookers. The costumes are primitive versions of their iconic outfits from the comics, with many fans speculating they were created by LordTech, and that the characters will ditch them for their comics accurate costumes later in the movie.

The costumes in the leaked photos are also missing some of the characters’ most iconic components, like Hawkgirl’s wings, and Green Lantern’s, well… green. One thing is for certain, Green Lantern fans are delighted to see that James Gunn isn’t using a CGI suit for his Lantern Corps – one of the many questionable decisions from the Ryan Reynolds-helmed Green Lantern movie.

Superman and Mr Terrific have already been spotted together in past leaked set photos, but the new images give fans a clearer look at their costumes for the movie. The new images also showcase a major change from the comic book version of Mr. Terrific. In the comics, Mr. Terrific flew by standing on two orbs which could bear his weight and allow him to travel through the sky. Gunn has seemingly ditched that idea and equipped his version of Mr. Terrific with a jetpack.

Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner is ‘90% Flawed’

Casual audiences who only know about the Green Lanterns through the Ryan Reynolds movie may not be aware of Guy Gardner. Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds) is one of several Green Lanterns to come from Earth. Superman will introduce audiences to Guy Gardner, a police officer recruited to the Green Lanterns. Gardner is head-strong, over-confident, and very flawed (according to Nathan Fillion). The actor described his version of the character, saying:

“The reality is that people have flaws. We all have quirks. We all have vulnerabilities. You could have the most wonderful family, but be like, ‘Oh, my God, my dad drives me nuts. He’s got this one thing.’ Everybody’s got something, and I love to lean into those faults and flaws.”

At this point, almost every major character appearing in James Gunn’s Superman has appeared in leaked set photos. DC fans have already gotten their first look at The Daily Planet, Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane (wearing her iconic purple outfit) as well as Wendell Pierce’s Perry White, and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor.
