‘Lopez Vs. Lopez’ Canceled at NBC After 3 Seasons
May 12, 2025
Popular comedian George Lopez has been starring alongside his daughter, Mayan Lopez, in the NBC multi-camera sitcom, Lopez Vs. Lopez, for the past three seasons. Unfortunately for fans of the series, its most recent season finale was also a series one, as NBC has officially canceled the series ahead of NBCUniversal’s Upfronts presentation on May 12, 2025, in New York City. It was the last of the network’s comedies to receive word of its future prospects, with Night Court also getting the axe earlier in the day.
Lopez Vs. Lopez is one of several sitcoms the stand-up comedian has created and starred in over the years. Prior to this, Lopez also starred in his eponymous ABC series, George Lopez, the one-season FX sitcom Saint George, Lopez for TV Land (which ran for two seasons), and even had a brief stint as a late-night host for two seasons on TBS. So it also feels safe to assume it won’t be long before we see George Lopez starring in a sitcom on another network or streaming service sometime very soon.

The Fate of ‘Suits LA’ Has Been Decided by NBC. Is It Case Closed for the Legal Drama?
NBC has sealed the fate of ‘Suits LA’ amid a brutal run of cancelations.
Lopez Vs. Lopez’s official synopsis was as follows:
“George and Mayan, a once-estranged father and daughter, navigate dysfunction, re-connection, and all the headaches and joy in between as they make up for lost time like only they can. With George back in the picture, he can always be counted on to provide Mayan with some unconventional parenting advice about her son, Chance — while saving a few lighthearted barbs for her boyfriend, Quinten, for good measure. Then there’s George’s ex-wife, Rosie, who hasn’t quite forgiven him, but they’re staying on good terms… mostly. In the end, the Lopez clan gets by with a little drama, a lot of love and a lifetime of laughter.”
The show, which was co-created by Lopez and his daughter, is just one of several instances of actors doing TV series with their children. Curious to know more about this hyper-specific genre of television? Keep reading to learn more!
NBC
Hollywood has a long history of famous parents bringing their children along for the ride on-screen. Be it on reality television, with series like The Osbournes (singer Ozzy Osbourne), Hogan Knows Best (wrestler Hulk Hogan), Gene Simmons Family Jewels (KISS frontman Gene Simmons), Living Lohan (Lindsay Lohan), Run’s House (rapper Reverend Run from Run DMC), and many more. And that doesn’t even get into the world of reality television families who became famous by putting themselves on reality TV.
On the more traditional sitcom/scripted television side of things, we’ve recently seen Poppa’s House (featuring Damon, Keenan Ivory, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans), Unstable (featuring Rob Lowe and his son, John Owen Lowe), and Little Demon (which starred Danny DeVito and his daughter Lucy DeVito). But they’re all far from the first to do it: the iconic star Lucille Ball even had a series with her two kids, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., back in 1968 called Here’s Lucy. It’s no surprise though, is it: culture has always been fascinated by the kids of famous people — the term nepo baby exists for a reason!
