Netflix just unveiled the trailer for the new installment for the Lupin series. Last year, Netflix gave fans a sneak peek into Lupin Part 3. The anticipation has been building up ever since, leading up to yesterday’s Tudum global event in Brazil.

With the newly released clip, it only added fuel to the ever-growing fire of excitement. The clip showcases Assane, as dashing and daring as ever, traversing the rooftops of France in a seemingly impossible escape​​. The trailer shows Lupin Part 3 continues right where the second season left off. If it is any indication of what to expect, then the upcoming third season will be as thrilling as the first two predecessors.

In this new chapter, we find our hero, Assane Diop, needing to go ‘underground’ after exacting his revenge on his rich and powerful nemesis Hubert Pelligrini (portrayed by Hervé Pierre). The stakes are higher than ever for Assane, whose past is as layered as the best French pastry.

In this modern take of the literary classic, the series is a thrilling French affair that follows the escapades of Assane Diop, portrayed by the charismatic Omar Sy. He is a son of a Senegalese immigrant who was working as a driver for the wealthy Pelligrini family. Later on, he was orphaned when his father was framed for a crime he did not commit. The series then progresses with Assane’s exploits as the titular master thief, while biding his time to go up against the Pelligrini family.

Now, with a family of his own, Assane must weigh his next moves carefully. His love for his wife Claire (played by Ludivine Sagnier) and son Raoul (Etan Simon) pulls him back to Paris, where he plots to convince them to leave the country for safer shores​​.

However, as they say, “the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry,” and Assane’s are no exception. The teaser clip depicts the extent of the danger he faces. He is forced to climb to the rooftop to evade the police cars on his trails. He is spotted by sharp-eyed lookouts, one armed with a sniper rifle. It’s a heart-pounding moment as Assane scrambles across the rooftops, barely maintaining his grip. The clip ends with a nail-biter as he leaps for an adjacent building, fingers grasping the ledge.

Netflix’s Lupin is an homage to the classic stories of Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief penned by Maurice Leblanc. The creators George Kay and François Uzan have been joined by writers Eliane Montane and Sumerah Srivastav. The series has also been graced with exceptional direction from the likes of Louis Leterrier, Marcela Said, Ludovic Bernard, and Hugo Gélin​​.
