Margot Robbie’s first movie since starring in Barbie, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, now has a release date. After rising to fame due to her appearance in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013, Robbie has become one of the most in-demand female actors in Hollywood. Last year, she starred in the critically-acclaimed Barbie from director Greta Gerwig, and she also produced Saltburn through LuckyChap Entertainment, her production company.

Now, THR reports that A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, Robbie’s first acting gig since Barbie, has had its release date set for May 9, 2025. Actor Colin Farrell is set to star opposite Robbie in the film, which hails from director Kogonada. Kogonada is best known for directing After Yang and Pachinko.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey Has The Ingredients To Be A Success
Why The Margot Robbie Film Is Already In Good Shape

Barbie’s reviews were overwhelmingly positive from critics and the film was a smash box office success. The film, due in part to the Barbenheimer phenomenon, became a cultural phenomenon, grossing $1.446 billion worldwide. Robbie was very much the face of Barbie and was a major driving force in getting it made, also serving as a producer. This film’s success alone makes Robbie’s next project one to keep an eye on, as audiences could turn out in a major way to see what she does next.

Robbie didn’t star in Saltburn, but the film was certainly a buzzy title online. Though the Saltburn reviews were somewhat lukewarm from critics, the film, which starred Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi, dominated chatter on social media engagement due to some of its more provocative moments. Robbie’s role as producer meant she played an important role in bringing the story to the screen.

Through LuckyChap Entertainment, Robbie is also set to produce a
movie adaptation of
The Sims

,
which will feature Kate Herron directing, and a
Monopoly
movie.

Outside of Robbie’s involvement, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey also features some other key ingredients, including its director. Kogonada’s After Yang was a big hit with critics, as was Pachinko, his Apple TV+ drama. With Farrell also involved after playing the Penguin in The Batman and appearing in The Banshees of Inisherin, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is shaping up to be a potentially awards-worthy title with impressive talent involved both in front of and behind the camera.
