Marvel 85 Years Celebration Video Shares New Look at Daredevil, Red Hulk & More

Sep 2, 2024

Founded in 1939 by Martin Goodman under the banner Timely Comics, the Marvel brand first entered the zeitgeist in 1961 with the publication of The Fantastic Four. Since then, it has been a staple in the lives of many for decades, and has spanned generations of fans that continue to be enthralled by its many characters, storylines, comic books, TV shows, and movies. To celebrate 85 years of Marvel, a new video has been released that takes a nostalgic look at the historic company, while also giving fans a new look at their upcoming slate of projects.

Released on Marvel’s various social media platforms, including YouTube, the celebratory video begins with the iconic page flip graphic that precedes all of their visual media. It features archival footage of the late Stan Lee, clips from interviews with Kevin Feige, Angela Bassett, and Tom Hiddleston, as well as the voice of Lee wonderfully stating, “In the comic books, and in the movies, story is always the most important element.” While some might argue that Marvel’s storytelling in their various films has declined in recent years in favor of focusing more on VFX and elaborate set pieces, it’s hard to disagree that it was certainly the original direction the company centered on when it first began. Check out the video below.

First-Look at Daredevil: Born Again, Thunderbolts, and More

“It began as an experiment to create an epic narrative that would become a universe of storytelling. For 85 years, our stories have connected us. We’ve only just begun,” the words in Marvel’s video read. Indeed they have, as the video gives us a first-look at some of their upcoming projects, including Daredevil: Born Again, Thunderbolts*, and Ironheart, as well as a further look at Captain America: Brave New World.

Set for release in February 2025, Brave New World will feature Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, and also sees an appearance by Harrison Ford as Red Hulk, which we see in the video. It will be followed by Daredevil: Born Again in March on Disney+, which sees the highly-anticipated return of Charlie Cox in the iconic red suit. Meanwhile, Thunderbolts* is set to release in May of next year, and features an all-star cast composed of the likes of Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Harbour, and Wyatt Russell.

Though an exact date has yet to be revealed, Ironheart will also debut on Disney+ in 2025, and will explore the events directly following 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with Dominique Thorne starring as the titular hero.

Like the video says, Marvel certainly shows no signs of slowing down, and despite the criticism in recent years of there being too many superhero movies and TV shows for people to keep track of, it’s clear that there’s still a ravenous audience for their many offerings. 2025 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years yet for the company, with not only the release of the aforementioned titles, but The Fantastic Four: First Steps as well.
