In the wake of the cataclysmic events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Television released the 2021 superhero mystery series WandaVision to widespread acclaim. The Emmy-winning series captivated audiences worldwide with its eerie whimsy, overarching mystery, and poignant examination of grief. Its 2024 sequel series, Agatha All Along, further explored the enigma surrounding the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), following her and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) reincarnated son, Billy (Joe Locke). Marvel has long touted Agatha All Along’s 2026 follow-up, VisionQuest, as the final chapter of a WandaVision trilogy. But VisionQuest’s showrunner now suggests the show may not be the conclusion many expect, just as new images from the series debut online.

VisionQuest’s showrunner, Terry Matalas, best known for his work on Star Trek: Picard, recently told SFX Magazine that he didn’t approach the Marvel series as a trilogy capper. Instead, he viewed VisionQuest as its own, self-contained story that has been influenced by previous events:
“But it really exists on its own. It’s more the Vision story, just because we’re going to dig into so much of who he is in ways that the films and WandaVision couldn’t, including some deeper parts of his origin that may go back even further than what we believed. So it’s very much its own entity, but it does obviously touch upon what has come before for this guy.”
Matalas also revealed that, despite the show being teased as the conclusion of Wanda and Vision’s saga, he believes there are more stories to tell with Vision:
“The second we wrapped, Paul, James [Spader], and I were immediately ready to go into 10 more seasons of whatever this could be. But that’s up to Marvel Studios and the television gods as to what happens.”

Bettany agrees, telling the magazine that the Vision reintroduced in VisionQuest’s first episode grows and evolves into a different person by the end of the season, and that his evolution creates new future possibilities for the character.
“We start off the show where we left him as White Vision, who has been repurposed as a weapon. I think that where we get to at the end of this, he’s clearly escaped the confines of whoever repurposed him, and he is looking for agency. By the end of our show, I think you’ll see that it’s a really exciting springboard for what Vision might do in the future.”
If Matalas and Bettany’s hopes for future seasons come true, VisionQuest would be only the second live-action MCU series to receive more than one season. Loki, the acclaimed Disney+ series starring Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, is the first, with its second season debuting in 2023. The Emmy-nominated 2026 series Wonder Man would have been the second, but Marvel and Disney abruptly reversed their plans for a second season of the series in July 2026. The latest reveal involving the introspective synthezoid’s future arrives just as new images from the series surface online. The images focus on actor Ruaridh Mollica, confirmed to be playing a reincarnated adult version of Tommy Maximoff, Wanda and Vision’s speedster son. In one of the newly-released images, the Scottish actor can be seen with Lauren Moriais, who portrays a young woman named Lisa Molinari. In Marvel Comics, Molinari goes by the moniker Coat of Arms and is a member of the supervillain team The Young Masters.

While VisionQuest’s major plot points remain tightly under wraps, Matalas and Bettany paint a picture of a series that will continue WandaVision and Agatha All Along’s tradition of unexpected twists and jaw-dropping revelations, and drive one of the MCU’s most popular stories to a dynamic conclusion.
