Marvel Spoils Key ‘Thunderbolts*’ Moment Through New Hasbro Toys

Apr 7, 2025

The Marvel Studios super secret spoiler police will be coming for someone in Hasbro’s merchandise department, as the newest line of Marvel Legends toys just spoiled a major reveal for the upcoming Thunderbolts* film. The new movie, directed by Jake Schreier, takes Marvel’s B-tier heroes and anti-heroes and finally gives them the love they deserve. Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and US Agent (Wyatt Russell) make up some of the team. So, who does the MCU’s B-team have to defeat? None other than Marvel’s psychotic version of Superman, Sentry. Fans already knew Lewis Pullman would play the complex character in Thunderbolts*. But the character’s iconic costume remained a secret… until now.
The first look at Sentry’s comic book accurate costume has been revealed online. Was it unveiled in a trailer? A cool social media promo? A five-hour-long video of chairs? Nope. Marvel fans got their first look at Sentry’s costume in Thunderbolts* from a new range of toys. The Sentry figure from Hasbro’s Marvel Legends series has been revealed, and it spoiled what the trailers were desperately attempting to hide. In the various trailers for the film, all we’ve seen so far is Sentry’s iconic buckle and a silhouette of Lewis Pullman flying in the sky wearing a cape.

Early Box Office Tracking for ‘Thunderbolts*’ is Modest By Marvel Standards, but Impressive for Every Other Franchise

‘Thunderbolts*’ is looking at an impressive opening weekend, but one that is considered low when compared to other MCU titles.

Given Sentry’s complex psychology and various costumes in the comic books, fans weren’t sure if we would get to see the yellow suit in Thunderbolts*. The trailers made it seem as though his character, who goes by Bob in the movie, would wear a darker suit to reflect his villainous nature, before receiving the comic book accurate costume in a later movie — Lewis Pullman is confirmed to star in Avengers: Doomsday.
‘Thunderbolts*’ Releases in Theaters on May 2

Thunderbolts* is the second of three MCU movies to be released this year. February saw Captain America: Brave New World hit theaters to mixed reviews from critics and audiences. While the film was technically a financial success, it was far from the box office juggernaut Marvel Studios were hoping for. Shortly after Thunderbolts* releases this May, fans will journey back to theaters for Fantastic Four: First Steps. The film will officially introduce Marvel’s first family into the fold when it releases on July 25.
Thunderbolts* looks to be a nice change of pace for Marvel Studios. The film has a crack team of creatives working behind the scenes, as was evident in the recent A24-style trailer that was released and adored by fans. The introduction of Sentry also allows the MCU to try and fix one of its longest-running issues: having boring villains. Even Deadpool & Wolverine suffered from the same problem. What’s most ironic is that comic books have the opposite problem, as the villains can often overshadow the hero of the story. Sentry is one of Marvel’s most complex characters. As well as having strength and powers akin to DC’s Superman, Sentry struggles with having a split personality. His good side, which goes by Sentry, is a hero who swoops in to save the day. But, residing inside him is The Void, a violent and destructive entity which fused with him when he gained his powers.
