MCU Fans React to Channing Tatum’s Gambit Surviving Deadpool & Wolverine in Deleted Scene
Sep 1, 2024
Ryan Reynolds has now revealed the fate of Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, releasing a deleted scene from the MCU sequel which shows Channing Tatum’s X-Men hero surviving (and even escaping) the Void. Following the revelation, Marvel fans have quickly taken to social media to celebrate, with many calling for Tatum to finally get his own solo Gambit movie. The scene shows Gambit looking up into the sky at a mysterious “Marvel Sparkle Circle” before smiling, with fans believing that this means someone has come to save him from the Void and bring him into the MCU.
“What if that sling ring portal was open by doctor strange in the middle of the battle in secret wars and deadpool & wolverine was standing there like ‘come join us'” one fan suggests, with another adding, “I don’t know if Disney/Marvel has a plan to fit Gambit in they new world they trying to build but I know Channing is gonna age out when they do they new version of the X-Men. I say give a role in secret wars then hang it up.”
The most obvious next step for Tatum’s Gambit is for the character to feature in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is due for release in 2027. The Avengers outing will bring the Multiverse Saga to an end as characters from across the various universes come together (and fight against each other) with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom at the center. And more Gambit is clearly something a lot of fans would love to see…
Marvel Fans Praise Ryan Reynolds for Helping Channing Tatum Realize His Gambit Dreams
Many have taken to social media to heap praise on Ryan Reynolds for releasing the scene, while others feel that, after all this time and dedication to the project, Channing Tatum deserves his own Gambit movie.
However, not everyone is on board with bringing Tatum back as Gambit beyond Deadpool & Wolverine. Some feel that there are better choices out there for when the character is introduced into the MCU, while others think a Gambit movie would be a box office failure.
Directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay he wrote alongside Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells, Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, and finds the pair joining the MCU after being tasked by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) with a new mission. A mission that will see them travel across the madness of the multiverse.
Channing Tatum’s Gambit is just one of several crowd-pleasing cameos included in the Marvel outing. The likes of Wesley Snipes as Blade, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Dafne Keen as X-23, and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm also play a part in the multiversal adventure. Throwing Deadpool and Wolverine into the multiverse clearly worked wonders, with the movie now grossing over $1 billion worldwide and thus becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
