Netflix Drops Instense Season 2 of Crime Drama ‘Unseen’

May 7, 2025

Netflix

has been delivering a constant stream of new movies and TV shows that have grabbed thrill-seeking audiences and refuse to let them go. Now the streamer has dropped Season 2 of a gripping South African action crime drama series that has gained a reputation as one of the platform’s best action-thriller series. What is more, the show has been leaving fans in tears with its incredible, emotional storyline.

Unseen

follows Zenzi (Gail Mabalane), a seemingly ordinary cleaner whose life spirals into chaos after her husband mysteriously disappears. What begins as a desperate search for him soon pulls Zenzi into a violent criminal underworld, where she’s forced to confront gangsters, corrupt officials, and become something that she never believed herself to be capable of. Season 1 delivered an outstanding introduction to Zenzi’s story, and received a lot of praise from those who turned up to watch.

‘Adolescence,’ ‘The Pitt,’ and ‘The Studio’ are among the shows nominated at the 2025 Gotham TV Awards.

Now, fans are diving straight back into Zenzi’s dramatic and harrowing story as she continues to search for her missing husband, leaving a river of blood and dead bodies in her wake. What is more, the show has managed to give audiences some unexpected feelings while delivering big on its action and drama. “This show is killing me emotionally,” one viewer posted in their X account, while another added, “I did not expect to be crying at 2 a.m. over this, but here we are.”
Is ‘Unseen’ Worth Watching on Netflix?

Netflix

There have not been a huge number of critical reviews for Unseen, but those that have been added to Rotten Tomatoes paint a picture of a series that is worthy of your attention. Archi Sengupta of LeisureByte.com says, “Unseen Season 2 is a thrilling exploration of Zenzi’s revenge coming to a heroic end with a ton more dead bodies to boot.” Meanwhile, Pramit Chatterjee of Digital Mafia Talkies goes a little deeper into some of the hidden meaning in the show, saying, “nowadays you have only one South African hogging the limelight and the headlines, who I won’t name to avoid a lawsuit, and somebody should let him know that the people of his country have sent him a hate letter via Unseen Season 2.”
Audiences are yet to really get their teeth into Season 2, but Season 1 was hailed by many as a “fascinating” watch, with a “very strong female lead.” Now, after a two-year wait, those waiting to find out what is next for Zenzi are finally able to catch up on her journey.
While Unseen may not come with the budget of big-name stars of some Hollywood shows with similar themes, that often makes it an even more worthwhile watch. Without the distraction of an overly familiar face doing things they have done many times before, Unseen lives up to its name in giving many Netflix subscribers the chance to watch a story play out without really knowing any of its players. While movies such as Havoc and Exterritorial continue to drive the film charts, it would not be out of the question to find Unseen slowly gaining traction on the TV side in the coming days.
