Netflix is Developing a LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE Reboot — GeekTyrant

Netflix has announced that they are developing a reboot of the classic 70s period drama series Little House on the Prairie, which has recently be come very popular again thanks to Peacock.The project is described as a “reimagining” of the series based on the book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, Vampire Diaries, Archive 81) will serve as showrunner and executive producer.The new series is expected to follow “Charles, his wife Caroline and their daughters Laura and Mary as they leave Wisconsin to settle in Independence, KS. There will be Osage characters, as the first season is based on the book Little House on the Prairie.”Producer Trip Friendly has been pushing for a reboot for years and said in a statement: “It has been a long-held dream of mine to carry on my father’s legacy and adapt Wilder’s classic American stories for a 21st century audience in a way that brings together fans of both the books and the original television series.“I am thrilled by our talented creative team led by Rebecca Sonnenshine who are bringing these beloved stories about family, community, and survival to longtime fans and new generations.”Sonnenshine added: “I fell deeply in love with these books when I was five years old. They inspired me to become a writer and a filmmaker, and I am honored and thrilled to be adapting these stories for a new global audience with Netflix.”The orignal series is set in the late 19th century, and is follows the Ingalls family Charles, Caroline, and their daughters Mary, Laura, and Carrie as they navigate life on the American frontier in the small town of Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Led by the kind and hardworking Charles Ingalls (Michael Landon) and narrated through the perspective of the spirited and adventurous Laura (Melissa Gilbert) the series portrays the joys and struggles of pioneer life.I use to watch this show all the time when I was a kid, but I haven’t watched it in years.
