Netflix’s Raunchy Mystery Thriller Hit Officially Confirms Fate 1 Month Ahead of Season 2

Oct 8, 2026

Topping Netflix viewership charts after its series debut in 2025, The Hunting Wives remains one of the campiest, sexiest thriller series on streaming — making its upcoming Season 2 a highly anticipated return to this Texas town’s sinister secrets and wildly addictive performances. Following a rigid, soft-spoken Sophie (Brittany Snow) and her move from the East Coast to small-town Texas, The Hunting Wives launches its newest neighbor into a world of provocative, social elitism and murder. The series is already set to return on Nov. 26, but the show’s fate beyond Season 2 has just been revealed.

The Hunting Wives has officially been renewed for a third season. The show stars Snow (Sophie), Malin Akerman (Margo), Katie Lowes (Jill), Jaime Ray Newman (Callie), Dermot Mulroney (Jed), among others. Based on the book of the same name, the first season deviated from a lot of the book’s original plot — opting for a more campy, soapy thriller experience. Seasons 2 and 3 will be the first time the show goes completely beyond the pages of the book. “I’m so stoked to be heading back to Maple Brook, and I promise that once you’ve finished Season 2, you’ll be desperate to see what happens next,” showrunner Rebecca Cutter shared in a statement regarding the third season.
This tease from Cutter likely refers to Snow’s earlier comments to Entertainment Tonight, in which she hinted at a surprising death coming in Season 2. “Someone dies. I won’t tell you who…they said that we couldn’t top last year, and somehow I think we are doing it,” said Snow. While plot and cast details for Season 3 have yet to be confirmed, early Season 2 talks feel ready to set up that scene with some even more intense drama and mysteries.

At the end of The Hunting Wives Season 1, audiences witnessed an explosive finale that saw Sophie run over Margo’s brother with her car. Meanwhile, the real truth about Abby — a Texas teen who died under mysterious circumstances — was finally revealed: Margo was really the one who killed Abby after she uncovered a scandal between Margo and Jill’s teenage son.

After practically admitting to Sophie that she killed Abby with her gun, Sophie knew she wanted to turn Margo in to the authorities. But before she can, Margo’s brother tries to take matters into his own hands, leading to his death and Sophie’s own murder secret to carry. Season 1 closes out with a lot of unresolved tensions between the wives, with the synopsis of Season 2 promising to introduce some dark enemies and even darker secrets that pull the women back together again.
