Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ Casts Lady Gaga in an Undisclosed Role for Season 2

Nov 14, 2024

Lady Gaga had an unexpected impact on Netflix’s Wednesday series when one of her songs was dubbed over clips of Jenna Ortega’s dance scenes in viral videos. Now it seems she will have a much more palpable presence in the new season of the Addams Family spin-off. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Gaga will be following up her recent role in Joker: Folie a Deux by taking on an undisclosed role in Tim Burton’s Netflix hit.

One person who will be thrilled about Gaga’s involvement in the show will be Ortega, who previously revealed that she believed Netflix would be happy to see the singer appear alongside her when the show returns.

“I’m sure Netflix would love that,” Ortega told Variety at the time. “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”

According to the reports, Gaga is currently filming with the cast of Wednesday in Europe, but it looks like we will have to wait a little longer to discover exactly what role she will be taking on in the new episodes.

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 is One Of Netflix’s Most Anticipated Shows

Wednesday became a huge success for Netflix in 2023, with Jenna Ortega immediately cementing her place in the role of the morbid daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams. With an incredible supporting cast including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, and original Wednesday actress Christina Ricci, Tim Burton’s first foray into the world of television could not have been a more resounding hit.

The series dominated the Netflix chart for weeks, breaking records as the most viewed English language series ever to stream on the platform. Although Netflix has made fans wait for the second season, anticipation is already growing for the continuation of Wednesday’s story, thanks in no small part to another star-studded cast being assembled.

There are plenty of Season 1 stars returning to reprise their roles in the new season, including Zeta-Jones, Guzman, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. Some of the big names joining them this time around will be Reservoir Dogs star Steve Buscemi and Doctor Who’s Billie Piper, along with guest appearances by Joanna Lumley – playing Grandmama – Thandiwe Newton, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and another original Addams Family favorite, Christopher Lloyd.

“Our goal this season was to discover some fresh faces as well as invite some acting legends we’ve always admired to join Jenna and the gang at Nevermore. When we survey the talent we’ve assembled, we could not be more thrilled. Mission accomplished.”
