New DCU’s Casting News Could Be Coming Sooner Than Expected
Jun 11, 2023
Almost a month after the announcement of the first projects that will be part of the first stage of the DCU by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy continues to advance details to fans through his social media.
Gunn is always on hand to respond to his fans and answer their questions, as well as dispel any rumors or misinformation that may emerge from the media about his 10-year plan for DC Studios. That includes hinting at what will happen in the coming months now that we already know which movies and series will arrive first in this new universe.
Through Twitter, the most frequent means of communication that the director uses to interact, he revealed that there would be news regarding the casting of these future projects sooner than we imagined. According to the tweet, it will be within the next six months:

The news about the casting is, without a doubt, what fans expect the most regarding the DCU, to find out which actors will be playing the most important characters within each of the projects. So Gunn has a difficult task ahead of him.

Which Are the Most Important Roles to Fill for the DCU?
DC Comics
The first big movie of the new DCU will be Superman: Legacy, and it is clear that Clark Kent’s role is one of the most important in any universe that wants to be built based on the characters of the comic book company. Henry Cavill set the bar very high for his portrayal of the Man of Steel, and Tyler Hoechlin is also doing very well in Superman & Lois, so he’s going to be a tough choice.
But the real pressure will be casting the franchise’s most popular character. Robert Pattinson is doing an incredible job as Batman, but his version of Bruce Wayne will not be part of the DCU canon but an independent project. The new Dark Knight must be a more mature and established version since he will be introduced together with his son Damian Wayne, another difficult role to cast.
Supergirl will also make her DCU debut in Woman of Tomorrow after Melissa Benoist was highly praised for her portrayal, and with Sasha Calle already drawing rave reviews just for her brief appearances in The Flash trailer.
Hal Jordan and John Stewart will also be making their HBO Max series debut, along with other Lanterns, so there will be multiple roles available in this project. Another hero that will be important is Booster Gold, who already has a fan favorite choice behind him, Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell.
