New Doc Series About Megalomaniac Leaders And Their Flocks Hits Netflix On July 28

Netflix already has some great docs about cults and their leaders, including “Wild Wild Country” and “Keep Sweet: Pray And Obey.” But now, the streamer takes a more tongue-in-cheek approach to megalomaniacal leaders and their flocks in a new six-part series: “How To Become A Cult Leader.”

The series marks the second in Netflix’s “How To Become…” series, the first of which, “How To Become A Tyrant,” hit the streamer in 2021. Netflix doesn’t disclose which cults the series covers, but from the show’s new trailer, expect Heaven’s Gate, Jonestown, the Manson Family to be covered over its six episodes.

Narrator Peter Dinklage reveals the playbook to achieving unconditional love, endless devotion, and the power to control people’s minds, bodies and souls.
Executive producers for the series include Jonas Bell Pasht, Jonah Bekhor, Peter Dinklage, David Ginsberg, and Jake Laufer.
Cult leaders not your fancy? Not to worry: Netflix and Citizen Jones has a third series in the works, “How To Become A Mob Boss.” No word on when that series will premiere on Netflix, though.
