New ‘Suits LA’ Promo Reveals Return of Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter
Feb 18, 2025
Five years since it aired its final episodes, Suits is back. Well, sort of. Suits LA is set in the same universe, but will feature a brand-new crew of attorneys led by Arrow star Stephen Amell. However, it will still feature some distinct connections to the acclaimed original series, including Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). A few months after it was confirmed the fan-favorite lawyer would return in the upcoming spinoff, a new promo for Suits LA has blown the lid on his appearance, which seems to be more significant than a brief cameo.
In a new promo for Suits LA, Amell’s lead character, Ted Black, dials up his old buddy, who happens to be Harvey Specter. The teaser then cuts to Gabriel Macht as Harvey in the back of a car, seemingly on his way to visit the firm across the country in Los Angeles. Fortunately, his appearance is not just a cameo, but a recurring role over a three-episode span. It’s hard to tell how exactly Harvey factors into the overall plot, but it appears he could provide some words of wisdom for Amell’s lawyer, whose firm is at a crisis point.
Although Macht took an extended acting break post-Suits to focus on his family and other creative endeavors, he told PEOPLE that he felt compelled to return as Harvey not for himself, but for the fans. In Suits LA, he will be able to give longtime fans (and new ones gained through the recent streaming success of Suits) a taste of the past while ushering in an exciting future for the TV franchise.
“I’m just doing it for the fans. I’m not doing it for me. I’ve done it 134 times. I’m not doing it for me. I had very little interest in coming back to work as an actor right now because I spent so much time [doing it] and this was my time to really raise my kids and to do this creative stuff like Bear Fight.
… [if there was] a way to do this where it made sense for my family, it made sense for the timing and if there was a way that I could sort of pass the baton to Stephen [Amell] and the cast in L.A. If I [could have] anything to do with helping support the show and getting it off [the ground], it’s almost like [giving] a blessing.”
Coming to NBC and Peacock later this month, Suits LA will be bringing back its beloved franchise mainstay, but it will primarily feature a brand-new cast of characters. In addition to Stephen Amell, the supporting cast of the show features Lex Scott Davis (The First Purge), Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead), and Bryan Greenberg (How to Make it in America). Although Gabriel Macht is the only confirmed returning cast member from Suits, his appearance could make room for more familiar faces down the line. Of course, that not only hinges on Suits LA being a success but also the willingness of certain actors, especially Patrick J. Adams.
