Nicole Kidman already has a strong partnership with HBO after “Big Little Lies” and “The Undoing.” Now she’ll team up with network again for a new limited series. Deadline reports that Kidman and Maya Erskine will star in “The Perfect Nanny,” with Erksine also serving as writer and showrunner. Both actresses are also on board as executive producers.

Based on the 2016 French novel of the same name by Leïla Slimani, “The Perfect Nanny” takes inspiration from the real-life 2012 murder of Lucia and Leo Krim by their nanny. Slimani’s book won the Prix Goncourt, France’s highest literary prize, and made the 2018 American edition ranked on The New York Times Book Review‘s 10 Best Books Of The Year List. In the UK, “The Perfect Nanny” goes by “Lullaby,” where it won the British Book Awards’ Debut Of The Year in 2019. No wonder HBO swooped in on the chance to make this novel into a mini-series.
Kidman adds “The Perfect Nanny” to her always busy schedule, which includes Lulu Wang‘s “Expat” series for Amazon Prime Video and “A Family Affair” with Zac Efron, coming to Netflix this November. The actress also has Taylor Sheridan‘s CIA drama “Lioness” on deck, too, which she also executive produces. Another Kidman thriller on the way: “Holland, Michigan” for Amazon Studios, which she executive produces, too.
As for Erskine, she’s the co-creator, co-lead, and executive producer of the Hulu comedy series “Pen15.” That show snagged a handful of Emmy nods in its two seasons. Other recent roles for Erskine include last year’s Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” In addition, she stars alongside Donald Glover in the upcoming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” TV series for Prime Video.
More Nicole Kidman on HBO? It’s hard not be excited about “The Perfect Nanny” after the likes of “The Undoing” and “Big Little Lies.” But expect Erskine to level up with this upcoming series too. As for when “The Perfect Nanny” premieres, odds are HBO has it slated for some time in 2024.
