A new Deadpool & Wolverine featurette gives a detailed look at the many Wolverine variants in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. One of the biggest highlights in the movie, which saw the return of Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman (but as a new Logan), were the many Marvel Easter eggs and references in Deadpool & Wolverine. Since the movie dealt heavily with the multiverse, Deadpool & Wolverine depicted a number of variants for both titular characters.

With Deadpool & Wolverine’s home media release approaching, Entertainment Weekly has revealed a clip for one of the featurettes, which is all about Jackman’s Wolverine. The footage gives a better look at the Wolverine variants he portrayed in the Phase 5 installment, outside the main version he played throughout the rest of the film. What Deadpool & Wolverine’s New Featurette Reveals

While Jackman’s additional cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine may have been brief, they were still significant for the Marvel hero and the audience he has garnered throughout the years. That was why it was such a big deal, not only for Jackman to return, even as a new Wolverine in the film, but to honor the many looks and stories Wolverine has gone through in the comics. If there is any takeaway from the new Deadpool & Wolverine featurette, it is how detailed and respectful the creative team was to the various eras of Wolverine that were celebrated.

Even though it would have been fun to see more of these Wolverine variants, it is still a massive accomplishment how much dedication the Deadpool & Wolverine team put into bringing some of the iconic looks (or covers, in the case of the crucified Wolverine) to life in live-action. This likely would never have happened with Fox’s X-Men films, as they had a very specific look for Logan that stayed as far away as possible from his comic book counterparts. The same can be said for the Deadpool variants who appeared in the film, as 20th Century Fox never took advantage of them, either.

Our Take On The New Look At Deadpool & Wolverine’s Variants

After seeing this many versions of Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, it would genuinely be fun to see more homages to other eras of Logan in the Marvel canon. Following the Deadpool & Wolverine ending, time will tell if The Multiverse Saga may feature other Wolverine variants before they reach the end of Phase 6. But for now, the MCU audience can look forward to returning to the MCU through Deadpool & Wolverine.
