While Oscar Isaac has been teasing a second season of Moon Knight, he admits that nothing is yet guaranteed.

Continue to hold out hope, but don’t count on a second season of Moon Knight just yet. Created by Jeremy Slater for Disney+, Moon Knight wrapped up its six-episode run on the streaming platform in May. In the months since, there have been rumors along with some cast teases that season 2 of the show could happen, but as of now, that has not yet been officially announced by Marvel Studios.

In a new interview with Collider, Isaac offered some clarification on the current status of Moon Knight. When asked directly to state if season 2 was definitively happening, Isaac noted how much fun it was to tease the second season, but came clean by admitting that no new episodes have been greenlit at this time. From the interview:

“We can’t definitively say that. I need my teasing abilities. Can’t drain me of those. What a cock tease I am. Always been. No, I hope so. We’ll see what happens. But at the moment, there’s no official word.”

Earlier this month, Isaac claimed at New York Comic-Con season 1 was “not the last we’ve heard of Moon Knight.” But that followed prior comments from Slater over the summer that he hadn’t had any conversations whatsoever with Marvel Studios about doing more episodes. Still, with Isaac making it clear he’s open to coming back for more, the possibility is always there that a renewal could end up happening. As of now, the only live-action Marvel series on Disney+ to get renewed for a second season is Loki, though WandaVision will have at least two spinoffs.

Oscar Isaac Needed a Break After Filming Moon Knight

Isaac had a good time with Moon Knight, but the role was pretty exhausting for him to take on. The actor also explained how he still hasn’t committed to taking on another major role in a movie or series as he’s still recovering from how much Moon Knight had drained him. We may not know until sometime in 2023 what the next role he’ll accept will even be, but if Moon Knight fans are lucky, it will be the offer to come back for a second season.

“There’s nothing in the works. Moon Knight was so amazing, but also so incredibly draining. I just put every bit of myself into that. Every bit of output I could. That it’s just been a year of input, just taking stuff in as opposed to having to put anything out other than headphones. So at the moment, I’m going to do a play next year and then we’ll see what happens after that.”

You can stream the first season of Moon Knight on Disney+.
