Oscar Isaac To Star In New Amazon Series From ‘All Quiet On The Western Front’ Director
Mar 13, 2023
Last night, director Edward Berger officially became an Oscar-winning filmmaker thanks to the Best International Film win for “All Quiet on the Western Front.” And it doesn’t appear that Berger is going to even stop to take a breath as the filmmaker’s next project has just been announced.
According to Deadline, Edward Berger is signed on to direct and produce a new Amazon series, “Helltown,” which will be produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey’s Team Downey. Not only that, Berger seems to have found his leading man, as Oscar Isaac is in talks to star in the project, as well.

Based on the novel by Casey Sherman, the series is expected to tell the story of a young Kurt Vonnegut (Isaac), before he becomes a celebrated author. Instead, he’s a struggling writer and car salesman trying to support a family in Cape Cod. Then after women are murdered, he becomes obsessed with finding the killer responsible. The series is written, produced, and showrun by Mohamad El Masri, who is probably best known as a writer and producer for the hit Apple TV+ series, “Severance.”
As mentioned, Berger is coming off the massive success of “All Quiet on the Western Front.” However, before that, he also spent quite a bit of time in recent years working on TV series such as “Patrick Melrose,” “The Terror,” and “Your Honor.” Isaac is no stranger to TV either, having famously starred in the recent Marvel Studios show, “Moon Knight,” as well as a leading role in HBO’s “Scenes From a Marriage.”

Obviously, it’s still a bit early to know when we might see “Helltown” arrive on Prime Video. However, with an Oscar-winning filmmaker at the helm and one of the biggest stars in the world leading the cast, it looks like the Amazon series will be one of our most anticipated projects in development right now.
