‘Outlander’ Finally Returns in Epic First Trailer for ‘Blood of My Blood’ Season 2
Aug 29, 2026
The time-bending romance fantasy that captured a ferocious cult following for eight seasons has spawned an equally acclaimed spin-off — Outlander: Blood of My Blood has expanded and bolstered the Outlander lore with a story about inherited destiny. Blood of My Blood is a two-fold parallel tale set in different centuries, both intersecting in the past and shaping Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall’s love story. Season 1 set the stakes with a gripping cliffhanger that’s now confirmed in the Season 2 trailer.
The new trailer reveals off the bat what happened at Craigh na Dun in the Season 1 finale, and what it means for Henry Beachamp and Julia Moriston’s baby. Season 2 also teases the peak of the Jacobite uprising, with Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, Jamie Fraser’s parents, caught up in the chaos. If the new season delivers on its trailer’s promise, then Blood of My Blood could set up a multigenerational saga above love that literally transcends time and space — it’s also shaping up to be a compelling (and necessary) origin story. Blood of My Blood has so far sustained the tension by finding ingenious ways to move the key characters like chess pieces. Jamie’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen McKenzie, remain divided by their obligations and contrasting senses of duty. Meanwhile, Claire’s parents, Henry Beachamp and Julia Moriston, are again separated by time, and their as-yet-unidentified child adds another twist to the story. Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts has previously teased in an interview with Decider that “heads might explode” once the series reveals that child’s identity. Season 2 will escalate the prequel’s tension into a full-scale historical drama, with the Jacobite uprising set to split the Highlands and forcing everyone to choose a side in the conflict. Season 1’s time-travel cliffhanger also pays off immediately following Julia and Henry’s failed attempt to go back to their timeline — how and when they are eventually reunited will be a pivotal part of the story.
Blood of My Blood Season 2 brings back the main ensemble starring Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat; Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie; Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie; Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser; and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan. Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield also return as Henry Beauchamp and Julia Beauchamp, as well as Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater as Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie.
Blood of My Blood reframes Jamie and Claire’s epic love story as the result of fateful decisions made long before they were even born, making their eventual union inevitable rather than coincidental. The stones are now also more than a time-slip plot device — they’re a mysterious catalyst that binds two families, opening the door for more potential spin-offs about multigenerational bloodlines with shared destinies.
