‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Features Major DCU Cameo, Confirms James Gunn
Jun 6, 2025
Peacemaker Season 2 is officially on its way to Max later this year, and the beloved superhero series starring John Cena is returning with a bang. The show, which is now set in the same universe as Superman, will feature a bevy of DCU characters, one of which is a major cameo, according to the show’s creator. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Peacemaker creator and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn revealed that audiences should expect to see a lot of Superman and DCU influence in Season 2. This extends to what he described as a “really, really big cameo” that happens near the season finale. Is David Corenswet’s Superman making an appearance? It’s certainly possible, if Gunn is to be believed. Check out his quote below, which also reveals that the “Quantum Unfolding Chamber,” as seen in the trailer, will be the central focus of Peacemaker Season 2.
“You’ve seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2… We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show.”

The DCU’s New ‘Superman’ Looks Great. Why Is Everyone Being So Weird About It?
Despite many great trailers and photos, ‘Superman’ is facing significant backlash from some fans who can’t (or won’t) embrace something new.
Although Peacemaker Season 2 was confirmed to be set in the DCU well before the new trailer, fans were shocked to see several major cameos in the exciting footage. John Cena’s titular character is seen interviewing for the Justice Gang, the DCU’s (discount) version of the Justice League. The members seen include Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), which are all featured in this summer’s Superman. As Gunn just teased, Peacemaker will introduce different parts of the DCU that have not been revealed yet, partially thanks to the Quantum Unfolding Chamber. This could help explain how Peacemaker and his crew end up in the DCU from the DCEU, while also allowing for special appearances from other major characters.
‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Is Changing That Iconic Credits Sequence
Warner Bros.
James Gunn confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Peacemaker Season 2 is doing away with the iconic musical credits sequence from the first season. Not only did the cast and crew record a new dance number, but Wig Wam’s “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” was also not used this time around. Gunn revealed that, after a good chunk of the characters featured died on-screen, a new credits sequence was inevitable for Peacemaker Season 2. However, he insisted that he did not want to “one-up” the original, but instead create a new one that better suited the narrative of the second season.
“I think there’s 4 billion views of the dance sequence on TikTok, so when you have something that’s that viral, I just wanted to do a good job with the [new] dance sequence. I don’t know if the dance sequence ever is going to one-up the first, because no one expected it. It was a complete surprise, and you just can’t replicate that. However, the surprises within the show itself, I think, replicate that many times over, because there’s so many more twists and turns in this season with what happens and what you find out about this universe.”
Peacemaker has had to evolve a lot as a project since the show first premiered in 2022. With the DCEU done for good, the streaming series shifted gears to better suit the new cinematic universe. Hopefully, this will lead to a more eventful second season that sets the stage for the rest of the franchise while also giving fans another meaningful chapter in the life of Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker.
