Now, a clip from the Power Rangers Official YouTube channel has revealed how the second Red and Pink Rangers get Dino Powers for the first time ever.

In the clip, Alpha 5 gives Red Ranger Rocky DeSantos and Pink Ranger Katherine Hillard “proxy power coins” that they can use to get Dino Powers. This teases the return of the original Megazord at some point in the movie.

Once & Always Will Pay Tribute To Power Rangers

The revelation that Alpha 5 created new power coins allows for the whole team to have the same level of power as one another, meaning they’ll be giving it their all to defeat Rita. The absence of a Yellow Ranger on the team has yet to be filled, with Rita killing the original Yellow Ranger Trini Kwan. However, it’s implied that Trini’s daughter will be the one to take up the mantle of Yellow Ranger following her mother’s death.

Since Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always will be commemorating the 30th anniversary of the very first Power Rangers series, it’s possible the special will also pay tribute to other series in the franchise. Rita’s new, mechanical look could be a reference to the Machine Empire from Power Rangers Zeo, a later season within the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers continuity. The trailer for the special also saw the Green Ranger present at one point, a possible tribute to Jason David Frank, who died last year.

With returning cast members and the second Red and Pink Rangers getting Dino Powers for the first time, it appears Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always will be a faithful tribute to the decades-long franchise. While the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers appear to be the key focus of the special, there’s no telling what other elements of the larger Power Rangers franchise will show up. No matter how Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always plays out, it will likely leave those with nostalgic memories of the franchise satisfied.
