Jun 2, 2024

Summary

Rahul Kohli narrowly missed out on playing Mister Fantastic in the upcoming
Fantastic Four
reboot, losing the role to Pedro Pascal.
Kohli remains positive despite the loss, staying grateful for other opportunities in major projects such as
The Life of Chuck
and
Twilight of the Gods
.

The Fantastic Four
reboot is set to introduce new stars in an alternate universe and a 1960s setting.

Midnight Mass and iZombie star Rahul Kohli came agonizingly close to joining the MCU as Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, the actor has revealed. Kohli, who is best known for his collaborations with filmmaker Mike Flanagan in the likes of The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Fall of the House of Usher among others, has revealed to Salaam Nerds that, while he lost out on Mr. Fantastic, he is hoping that one of the many comic book fan-castings will eventually come true.

“Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine ones all flare up again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything.”

While playing Reed Richards is clearly something that Kohli wanted, the actor strives to keep perspective when he loses out on roles.

“On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.’ So, it’s sweet and it’s perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.”

Though he won’t be a member of The Fantastic Four, Rahul Kohli has several major projects in the pipeline. The actor is due to star alongside Loki’s Tom Hiddleston and Star Wars icon Mark Hamill in Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck and will provide the voice of Egill in the upcoming Norse mythology-inspired animated series Twilight of the Gods by Zack Snyder and Netflix.
