Russo Brothers Say Leaked ‘Avengers’ Artwork is Fake and Not from Their Movies

Mar 22, 2025

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

Marvel fans believed that they had been given an early look at what is coming to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday

, Avengers: Secret Wars, and possibly the upcoming Vision Quest Disney+ series when concept art was leaked online by an artist known to have previously worked with Marvel Studios. However, two people who should know whether this artwork is likely to spoil some major plot points of the upcoming projects are directors Joe and Anthony Russo. And they have some disappointing – or very welcome – news about that leaked artwork.

Russo Brothers Finally Reveal Which Version of ‘Secret Wars’ Is the Inspiration For Their MCU Return

‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ has many paths to choose from, and the Russo brothers know which they will be taking.

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the Russos were asked about the leak and whether it spoiled the upcoming movie for those who may want to avoid finding out too much ahead of the official release. According to the Russos, there is no need to worry, as it is not artwork from their movies.

JOE No, because that artwork was not from Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars.

ANTHONY Nothing spoiling in there. That’s not our concept art.

The Russos are Now in Control of the Multiverse

Netflix

The road to the next two Avengers movies and the end of the Multiverse Saga has not been an easy one for Marvel Studios. Actor controversies and deaths, changing writers and directors, and the increasing feel that Marvel Studios was losing control of its sprawling cash cow all made it feel like something radical had to happen to bring the Multiverse Saga to a worthwhile and coherent conclusion. Which seemingly led back to Anthony and Joe Russo, as well as Robert Downey Jr., who will also be returning for what could be the greatest comic book movie ever made, or an incredibly expensive misfire.
When artwork leaked just over a week ago, there was the expected mixed reaction to images of medieval courts, She-Hulk, Doctor Doom’s throne room, and more. Some loved it, some hated it, but as it vanished from the internet as quickly as it arrived, many were just left wondering how much of it would actually be used in the movies. Now we know, probably not a lot. While the art itself was most likely legitimate concept art for the future of the MCU, it is probably just a small amount of what has been created and pawed through by the Russos as their develop the two movies in their own way.
It seems that we will have to wait a little longer to see exactly what the pair have in mind for the MCU this time around, and what kind of aesthetic it will take on. For those who are happy to go into their Marvel movies with as few spoilers as possible, this can only be a good thing.
