Ryan Reynolds Is Reviving ‘ALF’ For His Maximum Effort Channel

There are things you expect to write about—the release of a new Wes Anderson film, something ridiculous an old white man says about cancel culture, or something about the latest Marvel Studios project—but then there are things you honestly never think you’ll have to talk about. Can you believe Ryan Reynolds is bringing back “ALF” to air on how own TV channel? Yes, that’s a real sentence filled with factual information.

According to Ryan Reynolds and his Maximum Effort production company, they are reviving “ALF” for the Maximum Effort Channel, which is available as a real channel on a variety of streaming services. What is going to happen is the Maximum Effort Channel will air a marathon of old “ALF” episodes mixed in with various “shorts” (glorified commercials) that will feature new scenes with ALF talking to people about sponsors, such as Mint Mobile (Reynolds’ own cell service company) and Hims (the people who advertise on just about anything), and various others. (You can actually see some of the shorts in a video below.)
“At Maximum Effort, we love taking risks and blurring the lines between shows and sponsorship because we believe both can be equally entertaining,” Reynolds said. “Besides my irrational love of ‘ALF’ growing up, one of the reasons we licensed this show was precisely because Paul, Shout! Studios, and our intrepid brand partners wanted to plot with us to bring ALF back to life.”

“ALF” is the mid-‘80s sitcom about a suburban family who takes in an Alien Life Form, aka ALF, who crash lands in their house. Shenanigans ensue as the family attempts to hide this sarcastic, silly alien from the government and their nosey neighbors.
The “ALF” day will begin on July 29 and you can watch it on the Maximum Effort Channel, which is found on Fubo, Amazon Freevee, LG Channels, Plex, Sling Freestream, Tubi, VIDAA, VIZIO Watchfree+, and Xumo Play. You can see the promotional video below:
