Secret Level Teaser Reveals Epic Animated Gaming Anthology Series Coming To Prime Video

Aug 22, 2024

Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for Secret Level, a new video game anthology series from the creative team behind Love & Robots. During the Gamescom Opening Night Live global live stream, Prime Video released the trailer for the anthology series that will feature original short stories set within the worlds of popular video games, including Mega Man, PAC-MAN, God of War, Warhammer, and many more. Prime Video set a premiere date for December 10, 2024.

Secret Level is developed by Tim Miller and his production company, Blur Studios. Miller is best known as the director of 2016’s Deadpool, but his company, Blur Studios, has a long history in video games, having worked on titles like Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dark Souls II, and Batman: Arkham Knight. Blur Studios is also responsible for the critically acclaimed Netflix anthology series Love, Death & Robots. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, spoke about the upcoming series via Deadline.

Secret Level
weaves a tapestry of iconic games across multiple mediums, to tell a series of unique and captivating stories. Created and led by Tim Miller, Blur Studio, and Supervising Director Dave Wilson, each episode will take our global Prime Video customers on a brand new journey with breathtaking animation and imaginative storytelling.”

Season 1 is inspired by the fifteen following titles.

Armored Core Concord Crossfire Dungeons & Dragons Exodus Honor of Kings Mega Man New World: Aeternum PAC-MAN PlayStation (Highlighting various PlayStation Studios beloved entities) Sifu Spelunky The Outer Worlds Unreal Tournament Warhammer 40,000

Many of the titles featured in Secret Level also have or are in the stages of being adapted in other projects. Dungeons & Dragons recently had the critically acclaimed Honor Among Thieves in 2023. Netflix was developing a Mega Man movie for Netflix back in 2021, but no news has been released about that project recently. Warhammer fan Henry Cavill has been trying to get a cinematic universe off the ground, with Prime Video also involved with that, and Secret Level might be the proof of concept he needs. The most interesting inclusion might be Kratos from the God of War video game series, likely in the PlayStation highlight episode, as Prime Video is also working on a God of War television series.

Following the box office catastrophe of Borderlands (which Tim Miller notably did reshoots on), video game adaptations need a win to get back on solid ground. December is shaping up to be a big month in that respect, as shortly after Secret Levels debuts on Prime Video, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will open in theaters on December 20, 2024. Miller is also a producer on Sonic the Hedgehog 3, so it looks like a very good holiday season for him. If Love & Robots is anything to go by, Secret Level will provide fans with some beautiful short films that bring these wonderful games to life in unique and exciting ways.

Secret Level
premiers on Prime Video on December 10, 2024.
