Seth Rogen & Rose Byrne Are Just Friends In Apple TV+ Comedy Series
Apr 26, 2023
On paper, the comedic pairing of Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne shouldn’t work nearly as well as it does. However, as was proven in the two “Neighbors” films, these two have incredible chemistry and comedic timing with each other. Apple TV+ is hoping that continues in the new show, “Platonic.”

As seen in the trailer, “Platonic” tells the story of two estranged friends (Rogen and Byrne) who reconnect after years apart when one of them files for divorce from their spouse. From there, they get into all sorts of hijinks together, while different people in their lives wonder if a grown man and a grown woman can just be friends. While that seems like a bit of a boring question to ask in 2023, the new series does look really funny, especially the bit in the trailer about snorting drugs in a bathroom. Who doesn’t want to see Rose Byrne go through a midlife crisis alongside Seth Rogen?
Joining Rogen and Byrne in the cast are Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Andrew Lopez, and Carla Gallo. “Platonic” is co-written, co-directed, and co-created by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. The former is also the filmmaker behind the “Neighbors” films, which makes a lot of sense considering the talent involved.
“Platonic” debuts on Apple TV+ on May 24. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
“Platonic” follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife (Rogen and Byrne) who reconnect after a long rift. The duo’s friendship becomes all consuming—and destabilizes their lives in a hilarious way.
