Mar 7, 2025

SXSW 2025 kicks off this weekend, and one of March’s most anticipated TV shows has its global premiere at the festival today. That’s right, SXSW attendees will get a chance to see “The Studio” before Apple TV+ subscribers, and further build a hype train that’s been steadily gaining momentum over the past few months.

And “The Studio” looks like a winner for both Apple TV+ and Seth Rogen, its star and co-creator. Rogen stars in the meta-comedy series as Matt Remick, the new head of fictional Continental Studios, who must navigate the studio and its many combative executives into Hollywood’s uncertain future.
Here’s an official synopsis for “The Studio,” courtesy of Apple TV+:
In “The Studio,” Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios. As movies struggle to stay alive and relevant, Matt and his core team of infighting executives battle their own insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films. With their power suits masking their neverending sense of panic, every party, set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting, and award show presents them with an opportunity for glittering success or career-ending catastrophe. As someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes movies, it’s the job Matt’s been pursuing his whole life, and it may very well destroy him.
Along with Rogen, “The Studio” also stars Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders.  Guest stars include Bryan Cranston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Dewayne Perkins, and more.
Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory create “The Studio” with Rogen and his longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg, as well as Frida Perez.  Executive producers on the series include Rogen, Goldberg, as well as James Weaver, Alex McAtee, and Josh Fagen via Point Grey Pictures. “The Studio” is a Lionsgate Television production.
As noted earlier, “The Studio” has its world premiere today at SXSW 2025.  The show then hits Apple TV+ on March 26 with two episodes premiering, and new episodes premiering weekly through May 21.  Watch a new trailer for the comedy series below.
