Shazam Brings The Family Together!
Warner Bros.
Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods is a follow-up to 2019’s Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi as the titular hero. The film follows Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who is chosen by the wizard Shazam (Djimon Honsu) to be his new champion. Whenever Batson calls out the name, he transforms into the powerful hero bearing it. The film currently holds an approval rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and is considered a hilarious addition to the DCEU.
Shazam’s main villain, Black Adam, also gained his own feature film in the 2022 film starring Dwayne Johnson. The character was originally planned to appear in the first movie, but producers later decided to have him in his own spin-off movie instead. Black Adam premiered this past October, earning mixed reviews from audiences and critics. Despite bringing home over $300 million, the film was ultimately considered a box office disappointment. Currently, it is unclear if Black Adam will have a place in the new DCEU driven by James Gunn, but the director has given positive hints that a collaboration involving Johnson is a possibility.
As for Billy Batson, he is officially back in Fury of the Gods, only now he is finding himself the leader of a new team of superheroes! When the daughters of Atlas (Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu) bring trouble their way, the team has to find the proper weapon to even the odds! Check out the explosive trailer below.
The Shazam! Fury of the Gods Funkos are available for pre-order now through Gamestop. The collection will also be available at multiple retailers such as Target, Hobby Lobby, Diamond Comics, Amazon, Walgreens, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and more! Meanwhile, Shazam: Fury of the Gods will be soaring to theaters on March 17th, 2023.
