May 23, 2023

The premiere of Shazam! Fury of the Gods is right around the corner, and promotion continues for the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 film that will see the return of Zachary Levi and Asher Angel as The World’s Mightiest Mortal under the direction of David F. Sandberg once again.

Today a new poster of the film came to light, which presents fans with the powerful titular hero facing an imposing mythological dragon, the same one that we saw in the trailer of the film, being ridden by one of the great villains of the film, played by Lucy Liu:

DC/Warner

In Shazam! Fury of the Gods, when Billy Batson and his foster siblings transform into superheroes by saying Shazam!, are forced to get back into action and fight the Daughters of Atlas. They must stop them from using a weapon that could destroy the world, in which they must travel to make peace with the Gods because Billy takes their powers for granted.

Will Zachary Levi’s Shazam Be in the New DCU?

Warner Bros.

According to James Gunn, The Flash will be a reset point for the previous DCU to let the new projects come, with a new structure and a bigger story that will unite every production in TV, cinema, and video games. But not all the past actors might be ruled out.

Although no official statement has confirmed Levi’s continuity, Gunn said that stars like Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa, who still will premiere Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in December, still have the doors open to be a part of what’s coming. Whether it’s to keep playing their previous characters or to find new ones, so Zachary and the rest of the Shazam! cast could still have a role in the upcoming DCU.

For now, DC fans can enjoy Shazam! Fury of the Gods next month, The Flash in July, Blue Beetle in August, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom at the end of the year, with the DC Studios’ first projects coming in 2024.
