‘Spider-Man 4’ MCU Rumor Says Marvel Casting 30-50 Year Old Female Villain
Mar 26, 2025
Spider-Man 4 is looking to round out its cast, which currently features Tom Holland and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, who recently joined in an undisclosed but key role. The upcoming MCU film has been subject to a flurry of rumors, but the latest report could give fans the biggest hint yet as to the identity of the villain. Every Spidey film needs a badde (or few) to beat up, and it seems Marvel is looking for a specific group of talent to portray the sequel’s primary antagonist.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios intends to cast an actress between the ages of 30 and 50 to play the main villain in Spider-Man 4. The identity of this mysterious foe has not been revealed yet, but the latest hint could narrow down the possible candidates. Of course, there is a chance the MCU might gender-bend a typically male villain from the source material. However, some notable options are Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat, Lady Octopus, Silver Sable, and Spider-Queen. The latter of which has risen as a favorite due to rising speculation that the film is adapting Spider-Island.

Is the MCU ushering in another Phoenix Saga?
The plot of Spider-Man 4 is anyone’s best guess at this point, especially considering the whirlwind of behind-the-scenes changes. With Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton now at the helm, it’s been rumored that the upcoming MCU sequel will serve as a light reboot of the franchise, similar to how Taika Waititi rejuvenated the Thor series with Ragnarok. From more multiverse shenanigans to the promise of a more “ground-level” story about Peter reckoning with his new life, Spider-Man 4 has seen more rumors than most films will see throughout its entire development cycle. However, as cameras prepare to roll later this year, expect more concrete details to arrive sooner rather than later.
The Current ‘Spider-Man 4’ Villain Favorite Might Be a ‘Succession’ Alum
HBO
Although the true identity of the Spider-Man 4 villain has yet to be confirmed, an actress has risen among a crop of potential candidates as a favorite for the MCU film. A new rumor suggests that Succession star Sarah Snook, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, might be eyed for the villainous role currently being cast. Some people have previously fancast her as Silver Sable, a character who was set to get her own solo Marvel film from Sony years ago (well before the eventual demise of their shared universe).
Of course, this information should be taken with a grain of salt until further confirmation. However, where there is smoke, there is fire. Marvel Studios is casting a pretty wide net for their main baddie in Spider-Man 4, and Sarah Snook, among many other popular actresses, certainly fit the bill. Our money is on the film featuring Spider-Queen as its villain in an adaptation of Spider-Island storyline, which saw people on Manhattan Island gaining superhuman abilities. Could a multiverse twist be in there? Perhaps, but let’s allow Marvel Studios to figure all of that out first before production begins this summer.
