‘Star Wars’ Series Returns In 2025; Alan Tudyk & Ben Mendelsohn Confirmed
Aug 10, 2024
One of the hotly anticipated shows set to arrive in 2025 is the second season of “Andor.” At D23, fans were treated to a trailer and featurette for the upcoming sci-fi series that serves as a prequel to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” though unfortunately, it wasn’t put online. While initially expected to arrive at the end of 2024, it was pushed back mainly due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes in 2023. But the wait is almost over.
Star Diego Luna joined the stage to reiterate that season two takes place over four years. Also confirmed were Ben Mendelsohn as director Krennic and Alan Tudyk as the droid K-2SO.

Created by Tony Gilroy (“The Bourne Identity,” “Michael Clayton”), the series tackles the uprising that led up to the Rebel Alliance, which took down the Death Star in “Star Wars: A New Hope.” The ending of season 2 of “Andor” will lead directly into the events of ‘Rogue One’ and will be the final season of the series. So, expect lots of action, multiple storylines, and exciting character arcs. What made the first season so enticing was that Andor (the very talented Diego Luna), its central protagonist, was an anti-hero. A murderer and criminal. Not your typical choice to lead a resistance and save the galaxy. Additionally, the series realistically tackles politics, the gray areas in the conventional “good vs. evil” narrative, and the way rebellions emerge from oppressive societies. Essentially, it’s “‘Star Wars for grown-ups,” as Stellan Skarsgard said in an interview earlier this year.
The series stars Diego Luna, Kyle Soller, Stellan Skarsgard, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, and again, the recently confirmed Ben Mendelsohn. Episodes were written by Tony Gilroy, Beau Willimon, Dan Gilroy, and Tom Bissell. Directors on the series include Alonso Ruizpalacios, Ariel Kleiman, and Janus Metz.
“Andor” follows Cassian Andor, a smuggler and criminal, on his journey to join the Rebel Alliance in its beginning stages and his eventual transformation into a revolutionary and hero.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Beginning five years before the events of “Rogue One,” the series follows an ensemble cast of characters during the time that a Rebel Alliance is forming in opposition to the Galactic Empire. One of these characters is Cassian Andor, a thief who becomes a revolutionary and eventually joins the Rebellion.
“Andor” Season two will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2025.
