‘Stranger Things’ Caleb McLaughlin Hints at Lucas’ Early Season 5 Death
Nov 18, 2025
Stranger Things 5 is yet to release the first episodes of its three-part conclusion, but it seems that one cast member may have revealed his character’s fate already after a slip of the tongue. During the first part of the Stranger Things press tour, Caleb McLaughlin appeared to suggest that his character may not be around when the series finale comes around on December 31. For several months now, the stars of Stranger Things have been making one thing clear: ending the show has been a deeply emotional time. During their recent appearance, Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo echoed the same sentiments, with Wolfhard calling it “the hardest thing to film.” However, McLaughlin shared that his experience was not quite the same, saying:
“My finale was different. So, I don’t know.”
While this is not an outright spoiler, the looks shared by the actor’s costars suggested that perhaps he had revealed a little more than he should have, and many fans have now taken it as a bad sign for McLaughlin’s character, Lucas Sinclair. The fears have been further enhanced by a moment in the recently released trailer, showing Lucas carrying Sadie Sink’s Max into a lift, being hotly pursued by a Demogorgon. So far, there have been many theories about which characters will survive the final stand against Vecna and the monsters of the Upside Down, and with everyone suggesting that no one is safe as the series draws to a close, it could mean that Lucas will be meeting his demise earlier than some other characters in the show.
‘Stranger Things 5’ Is Set to Break Rules and Records

Stranger Things 4 was a huge viewership winner for Netflix, very quickly shattering several of its own records to claim the top spot on the chart for a number of weeks. Now, Stranger Things 5 is looking almost certain to maintain a grip on the Netflix streaming chart thanks to its staggered release plan. The first episodes of Season 5 will arrive on November 26, with another drop on Christmas Day, and a feature-length series finale airing on New Year’s Eve both on Netflix and in cinemas. Secrecy around what happens in the final episode of the series is something that has been such a closely guarded secret that even the cast have not yet seen the final cut. In a recent interview with People, Noah Schnapp, who plays the central character of Will Byers, revealed that he will see the episode at the same time as everyone else. He said:
“The stakes just keep getting higher and higher, and the show — you are not ready. I just watched 5 and 6, and I was sobbing. It’s so good. And then the finale, they’re not going to show any of us, so I won’t see it until the world sees it, and I’m just as excited as you guys are.”
The beginning of the end of Stranger Things happens on November 26, with the drop of the first four episodes of Season 5.
